Job Description
We are seeking a Geotechnical Engineer with professional experience to support the planning, design, and delivery of geotechnical engineering solutions for infrastructure, transportation, buildings, and other civil engineering projects. The successful candidate will assist with geotechnical investigations, foundation design, earthworks, slope stability assessments, and construction support while working under the guidance of senior engineers.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform assigned geotechnical engineering tasks as part of multidisciplinary project teams.
- Collect, analyze, and interpret geotechnical investigation data using established engineering procedures.
- Carry out routine engineering calculations, analyses, and technical assessments.
- Prepare geotechnical reports, design calculations, technical specifications, and recommendations.
- Propose practical engineering solutions to resolve technical issues encountered during project execution.
- Identify discrepancies in engineering data and recommend appropriate corrective actions.
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring to graduate and entry-level engineers.
- Deliver assigned work in accordance with approved budgets, schedules, quality standards, and project requirements under moderate supervision.
- Coordinate with internal teams, clients, contractors, and consultants throughout design and construction phases.
Technical Responsibilities
The successful candidate should have experience in:
- Geotechnical investigations.
- Assessment and interpretation of geotechnical parameters.
- Preparation of geotechnical ground models for various design conditions.
Candidates should also have experience in at least three of the following areas:
- Shallow foundation design.
- Deep foundation design.
- Earthworks and embankment design.
- Slope stability analysis and design.
- Excavation and lateral support systems.
- Ground improvement design.
- Liquefaction assessment.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Science from an accredited university in one of the following disciplines:
- Geotechnical Engineering
- Civil Engineering
- Engineering Geology
- Geological Engineering
- Foundation Engineering
- Soil Mechanics
- Rock Mechanics
- Rock Engineering
- Mining Engineering
- Master's degree or PhD in Geotechnical Engineering or a related discipline is preferred.
- Chartered Engineer (CEng), Professional Engineer (PE), or equivalent professional registration is advantageous.
- Relevant professional registration in Qatar, Bahrain, or the UAE is desirable where applicable.
Experience
- 2–8 years of relevant experience in geotechnical engineering.
- Experience in geotechnical investigations, design, and construction support for infrastructure or civil engineering projects.
- Good knowledge of contracts related to geotechnical investigations, surveys, and construction works.
- A balanced background in both design consultancy and site engineering is preferred.
Additional Information
Desirable Experience
Experience in any of the following areas will be considered an advantage:
- Geophysical surveys.
- Seismic geotechnical design.
- Geotechnical engineering for dam projects.
- Advanced numerical modelling using 3D Finite Element Analysis (FEM).
- A combination of design office and site/construction experience.
