Job Description
- Analyze structural elements for infrastructure projects such as roads, bridges, tunnels, retaining walls, culverts, and utility structures.
- Prepare structural calculations, design reports, drawings, and technical specifications.
- Ensure designs comply with local authority regulations, international codes, and project specifications.
- Review geotechnical investigation reports and incorporate foundation design recommendations.
- Coordinate with civil, geotechnical, architectural, MEP, and utility engineers to ensure integrated project delivery.
- Review and approve shop drawings, material submittals, and method statements submitted by contractors.
- Conduct structural assessments and provide solutions for existing infrastructure rehabilitation and strengthening.
- Perform site inspections to verify construction quality and compliance with approved drawings and specifications.
- Identify and resolve structural design and construction issues during project execution.
- Review Requests for Information (RFIs), technical queries (TQs), and variation proposals related to structural works.
- Monitor construction progress and provide technical support to site teams.
- Ensure structural works are executed in accordance with health, safety, and environmental (HSE) requirements.
- Coordinate with clients, consultants, contractors, and regulatory authorities on structural engineering matters.
- Participate in design reviews, value engineering, and constructability assessments.
- Prepare engineering estimates, quantities, and technical documentation for project submissions.
- Review and approve temporary works designs where required.
- Support procurement by evaluating technical compliance of structural materials and subcontractors.
- Conduct risk assessments related to structural design and construction activities.
- Ensure timely completion of structural deliverables while maintaining quality standards.
- Prepare as-built documentation and assist during project handover.
- Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance to the engineering team.
- Stay updated with relevant engineering standards, codes, and best practices in infrastructure design.
- Participate in project meetings and provide technical recommendations to stakeholders.
- Assist in planning, scheduling, and resource allocation for structural engineering activities.
- Ensure cost-effective and sustainable structural design solutions throughout the project lifecycle.
Qualifications
**Required Qualifications:**
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering from an accredited institution
- Minimum 10 years of professional experience in structural design and analysis for infrastructure projects including roads, bridges, tunnels, retaining walls, culverts, and utility structures
- Proven experience working with private developers and familiarity with RTA (Roads and Transport Authority) standards and specifications
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent structural engineering certification
- Demonstrated expertise in structural design codes and international standards (ACI, AISC, Eurocode, etc.)
- Proven track record of coordinating with multidisciplinary teams (civil, geotechnical, architectural, MEP, and utility engineers)
Additional Information
- Knowledge of sustainable and value engineering practices
- HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) certification or training
- Experience mentoring and developing junior engineering staff
- Familiarity with project management methodologies and scheduling tools
- Previous experience with design-build or integrated project delivery models
