Job Description
AECOM in Hunt Valley, Maryland is seeking an Environmental Scientist III with industry experience and skills in wetland and waterway delineation, assessment, and permitting, ecological assessments, forest evaluations, and agency coordination.
Summary:
- Work may include natural resource assessments, planning, regulatory compliance and permitting of projects in Maryland and across the Mid-Atlantic Area.
- Specific tasks may include, Pfield investigations utilizing Global Positioning System (GPS) equipment, assessment reports, and coordinating in the field with resource and regulatory agencies and clients.
- Support routine as well as high profile, complex infrastructure projects by conducting wetland and waterway delineations, associated permitting generally through Maryland/Viriginia/DC area regulatory agencies, and other required natural resource approvals
- Lead and/or participate in natural resources fieldwork
- Prepare written and graphic reports
- Prepare basic data and scientific documents
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor´s degree in Environmental Sciences or related field and 4 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
- Demonstrated experience performing biological, wetland, stream and forest assessments and/or permitting and field surveys
- Valid US Driver’s License required to visit project sites, clients, and other AECOM offices. As a condition of employment, selected candidate must pass a Motor Vehicle Records review.
- Due to nature of work involved, US Citizenship Required
- Ability and willingness to travel as needed per project requirements up to 40% of the time, which will include occasional overnight travel.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Ability to write well, distill supporting information in the scientific literature, communicate technical issues to a wide range of readers
- Strong, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- Understanding of personal role in supporting the marketing of company services by delivering high-quality, accurate work products to external and internal clients
- Proficient in using software applications such as the Microsoft Office Suite and ArcGIS
- Tidal and non-tidal delineations and permitting experience
- Forest assessments and experience with Maryland authorizations
- ArcGIS software and Field Map experience
- Professional Wetland Scientist (PWS) certification
- Six (6) years professional experience in Environmental Science work
- Related work experience in the mid-Atlantic region.
