AECOM is seeking a highly motivated and experienced CEI Senior Roadway Inspector to join our Transportation Construction Engineering and Inspection (CEI) team in Georgia. This role will be responsible for providing technical expertise, leadership, and construction engineering inspection support to ensure projects are delivered in accordance with contract requirements, quality standards, and schedules.
Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Perform advanced technical construction engineering inspection (CEI) work supporting roadway and bridge construction projects.
- Conduct complex inspections of roadway, structural, and transportation construction activities to ensure compliance with contract documents, plans, specifications, and applicable standards.
- Serve as the Lead Project Inspector, providing oversight and work direction to lower-level inspectors performing routine to moderately complex inspection activities.
- Exercise independent judgment and decision-making in evaluating construction methods, materials, workmanship, and field conditions.
- Perform materials sampling, inspection, and testing in accordance with project specifications and Department requirements.
- Verify contractor compliance through field observations, documentation, and quality assurance inspections.
- Measure and document contract pay items and prepare accurate field records to support project administration.
- Complete and maintain required project documentation, reports, daily inspection records, and other Department-required documentation.
- Participate in project Concept Meetings, Preliminary and Final Field Plan Reviews, preconstruction meetings, and project close-out activities.
- Coordinate with engineers, contractors, and project stakeholders to resolve field issues and ensure successful project delivery.
- Monitor construction activities to ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and quality standards.
- Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned in support of project and program objectives.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED plus 6 years of progressive transportation technician experience as an employee or consultant for a State Highway Agency; or demonstrated equivalent combination of training and directly related experience and/or education
- US Citizenship is required, due to the nature of the work
- Valid US Driver’s License required to visit project sites, clients, and other AECOM offices. As a condition of employment, selected candidate must pass a Motor Vehicle Records review
Preferred Qualifications:
- Degree in Civil Engineering, Civil Engineering Technology, or Construction Management (4-year curriculum) and five (5) years of progressive transportation technician experience as an employee or consultant for a State Highway Agency
- Thorough knowledge of specifications and standards, acceptable construction practices, materials, methods and equipment used in bridge/highway construction and engineering
- Ability to read and comprehend transportation roadway and bridge plans, Contractor’s layouts, and all other documents associated with the project
