Job Description

AECOM Canada is hiring a Senior Ports & Marine Project Manager in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage multidisciplinary project teams in the planning, design, and delivery of ports, terminals, waterfront, and marine infrastructure projects.
  • Oversee project scope, schedule, and budget, ensuring alignment with client requirements and organizational objectives.
  • Provide technical leadership in marine infrastructure projects including container terminals, commercial and industrial ports, wharves, jetties, marine terminals, bulk material handling facilities, coastal structures, and waterfront developments.
  • Lead and coordinate engineering activities involving marine structures, geotechnical considerations, dredging, coastal processes, and port infrastructure systems.
  • Ensure quality assurance and compliance with relevant codes, standards, and safety regulations.
  • Coordinate with clients, contractors, regulatory agencies, and internal stakeholders to manage successful project execution.
  • Develop innovative engineering and design solutions to address technical and operational challenges.
  • Prepare and review technical documentation including reports, drawings, specifications, design calculations, and construction support documentation.
  • Mentor and develop junior engineers and technical staff, promoting collaboration and technical excellence.
  • Support business development efforts through technical input to proposals, participation in client meetings, industry engagement, and professional associations.

 

    Qualifications

    Minimum Requirements

    • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Marine Engineering, Coastal Engineering, or related discipline.
    • 8+ years of progressive experience in ports and marine infrastructure projects, including design, project delivery, and client management.
    • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in Canada or eligibility to obtain registration within 12 months.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Master’s degree in Structural, Geotechnical, Marine, or Coastal Engineering.
    • Demonstrated experience managing multidisciplinary engineering projects involving marine infrastructure.
    • Experience with project planning, budgeting, scheduling, and stakeholder coordination.
    • Proven experience delivering marine infrastructure projects from concept development through detailed design and construction support.
    • Experience with port facilities, marine terminals, waterfront developments, dredging projects, wharves, jetties, breakwaters, and coastal protection structures.
    • Demonstrated understanding of marine structural design, geotechnical considerations, coastal processes, and marine construction practices.
    • Strong project management capabilities, including scope control, risk management, financial management, and client relationship management.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.
    • Experience mentoring engineers and technical staff.
    • PMP designation considered an asset.
    • Experience supporting business development activities, including proposal preparation and client presentations.
    • Experience working on projects within Atlantic Canada and familiarity with applicable provincial and federal regulatory requirements is considered an asset.
    • Experience working with federal agencies, ports authorities, or marine transportation stakeholders is considered an asset.
