Job Description
AECOM is actively seeking an Inspector for our New Jersey office to support our Transportation Business Line.
The responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Perform detailed field inspections on highway and bridge construction projects and maintain comprehensive inspection records for As-Built documentation
- Serve as the technical expert in field inspections and audits, recognized as the go-to resource internally and externally
- Review and interpret project plans, blueprints, specifications, and contract documents to ensure work is completed according to design
- Monitor and enforce compliance with construction standards, contract specifications, industry regulations, and safety protocols at project sites
- Maintain daily reports, documentation, and progress logs on project activities, including materials used, work performed, and any issues identified
- Conduct and document material testing, sampling, and field measurements as required
- Collaborate with contractors, engineers, and project managers to identify and resolve project-related issues in a timely manner
- Participate in punch lists, testing, commissioning, and project meetings to provide updates on inspection findings
- Provide on-the-job training and guidance to new employees on inspection procedures and standards
- Travel throughout New Jersey to support multiple project sites as assigned
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- HS +6 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
- Valid U.S. Driver’s License
- Experience in highway construction inspection, including NJDOT and NJTA projects
Preferred Qualifications:
- NICET Level 2 or Level 3 Certification in Highway Construction Inspection
- Strong understanding of highway and bridge construction processes, materials, and safety protocols
- Ability to read, interpret, and apply construction drawings, specifications, and industry standards
- Able to wear and work in personal protective equipment such hard hat, safety vest, work boots, safety glasses/goggles, gloves and mask
- Excellent reporting, documentation, and communication skills for project coordination
- Able to work outdoors on construction sites under all weather conditions
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite particularly Word, Excel and Outlook
- Able to work overtime as required
- Proficiency in construction-related software (such as SiteManager, AASHTOWare, Capex or similar) is a plus
