Job Description
AECOM’s Global Procurement team is on an exciting journey; growing, evolving and maturing. We’ve created a new senior Procurement role at the core of our strategic sourcing function to manage AECOM’s 3rd party IT spend and shape the category to deliver maximum value to AECOM.
We’re looking for someone who has experience in managing a global IT category, working on large-scale change contracts, has a strategic view of procuring services and embraces a data driven approach to procurement. The role will suit someone who is a results-orientated and enjoys fostering strong working relationships with key stakeholders (including IT executive leadership team) to partner on IT spend that carries the greatest impact. Working in teams across different countries and diverse backgrounds, the role will is expected to be hybrid which means a mix of virtually working from home, with access to a local AECOM office.

The role reports to the Global Head of Strategic Sourcing and is expected to have line management responsibility for another member of staff.
Key responsibilities of the role:
- Lead the development of IT category management across multiple countries, working with senior business stakeholders to identify a pipeline of sourcing projects to achieve cost savings and improve quality and service levels
- Lead major strategic sourcing projects across the IT category including analysis of demand and supply, development of the business strategy, management of the tender, negotiate commercial contract and supporting the Business Lead to implement
- Manage Sourcing Managers working on category based sourcing projects
- Support IT to enhance supplier relationship management with strategic suppliers, ensuring commercial management of strategic supplier contracts including the use of key performance indicators and escalation of performance issues where necessary.
- Utilise procurement technology and spend analytics to identify opportunities to deliver commercial value, cost savings, operational efficiency and improved service quality
- Support the delivery of Procurement’s target operating model through deployment of fast, guided and strategic buy channels, working with adjacent operational procurement teams to ensure less strategic/lower value/lower risk IT spend is managed effectively
- Support Procurement policy and processes, for example, through the implementation of the no PO no pay policy and the use of catalogues
- Develop change and project management plans to support new ways of working as a result of category-based sourcing initiatives undertaken
- Support the development and capability of the gloabl Procurement team by demonstrating high standard of delivery and sharing best practice
- Consider and contribute to the review of end to end processes in IT spend to improve management of supplier base, channel management, contract management, enable and improve purchase order compliance and adoption, workflow and approvals, payment processes and data and analytics
Qualifications
Specific technical knowledge/skills:
- Extensive experience (+ 6 years) in leading the procurement strategy for key sub-categories across indirect IT spend, partnering with senior business stakeholders and Executive Leadership Teams (ELT).
- Extensive experience (+6 years) in supporting strategic IT spend (covering all sub-categories across goods, services, and software.
- Extensive experience of category management tools and techniques applied across the IT category.
- Extensive experience of strategic sourcing tools and techniques (+8 years).
- Extensive experience of running competitive sourcing RFx projects and contract drafting.
- Extensive experience of negotiating complex goods and services enterprise deals across the IT category.
- Strong leadership techniques and people development methods.
- Extensive experience in managing change as part of global sourcing projects and project management tools and techniques including interpersonal and influencing skills.
- Excellent contractual and commercial expertise.
- Experience of collaborating and coordinating with adjacent tactical procurement team to ensure less strategic/high value/lower risk IT spend is managed under separate ‘guided-buy’ channels, maintaining capacity in strategic channel for the spend that matters most.
- Good supplier performance improvement tools & techniques.
- Expert communicator with strong soft skills to be able to navigate a complex stakeholder landscape and build rapport as a trusted commercial partner.
- Experience of exploiting procurement technology including procurement to pay systems, eCatalogues, eSourcing platforms and spend analytics tools
- Experience in savings calculations, forecasting and recording
Preferred Experience:
- Experience of working in a global strategic sourcing function within a professional services/ consultancy matrix organisation would be an advantage.
- Knowledge and awareness of working in the construction, infrastructure, transport or professional services sector would be an advantage.
- Knowledge of Coupa and PowerBI would be an advantage.
- Excellent verbal and written English.
- Highly numerate with excellent analytical skills including advanced MS Excel skills.
Preferred Qualifications :
- Degree in commercial, economics, business, or engineering,
- Nationally recognized professional certification (eg Member of the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply or Certified Purchasing Manager or equivalent professional procurement and supply chain qualification)
