Job Description
We are looking to engage an experienced Associate Director — Electrical Engineering to lead multi‑disciplinary delivery for mining and minerals processing projects, covering studies, FEED and EPC(M) execution.
You will provide technical leadership in power systems and controls, drive design excellence and digital delivery, mentor teams, and build trusted client relationships. This role suits a hands‑on leader who can balance delivery oversight, technical authority, and strategic growth within our Mining & Metals practice.
How you'll make a difference:
- Lead electrical engineering across project lifecycles (concept, PFS/FS, FEED, detailed design, construction support, commissioning) for mining, concentrators, materials handling and downstream processing.
- Own technical governance for MV/LV systems, including primary distribution, substations, MCCs, drives/VSDs, earthing & lightning, protection coordination, arc‑flash and load flow/short circuit/harmonic studies (e.g., ETAP/PowerFactory).
- Integrate electrical, controls, and digital solutions for crushers, mills, flotation, dewatering, conveyors, stockpiles, smelting/refining, tailings and water systems.
- Oversee specifications, single‑lines, protection schematics, cable sizing/routing, layouts, I/O lists, PLC/SCADA architecture, and functional descriptions aligned to client standards.
- Plan and manage scope, schedule, budget, risk, and change; report performance and drive issue resolution with contractors and vendors.
Qualifications
The qualities that help you thrive:
The following qualifications and experience are highly desired, but if you don’t tick all the boxes you could still be a perfect fit for this role. Please apply, all applications will be considered.
- Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
- 12+ Years’ experience delivering electrical engineering for heavy industry, ideally mining and minerals processing (both greenfield and brownfield).
- Proven leadership of multi‑disciplinary teams on study and execution phases with demonstrable project outcomes.
- Depth in MV/LV power systems design and analysis, protection, and motor control for large rotating equipment and balance‑of‑plant.
- Working knowledge of PLC/SCADA/DCS integration, industrial networks and interface with OEM packages.
- Strong command of relevant standards and safe‑by‑design principles; familiarity with arc‑flash and protection coordination best practice.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement, written and verbal communication, and commercial acumen.
