Job Description

The Director, Network Services is a senior IT leader responsible for the strategy, reliability, security, and evolution of enterprise network infrastructure across global data centers, campuses, cloud environments, and remote/field locations. This role provides vision and hands‑on leadership to ensure highly available, secure, and scalable network services that enable business operations worldwide.

This position leads internal engineering teams and managed service providers, owns vendor and carrier relationships, and ensures network platforms align with business, security, resilience, and cost objectives. The Director partners closely with Infrastructure, Cloud, Security, Architecture, and Business leaders to deliver reliable connectivity and modern network capabilities at scale.

This position will offer flexibility for hybrid work schedules to include both in-office presence and telecommute/virtual work, to be based in either Houston or Dallas, TX.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategy & Leadership

  • Define and execute the global network strategy and roadmap, aligned with business growth, cloud adoption, security, and resilience objectives.
  • Serve as a senior technical leader and escalation point for complex network design, performance, and outage scenarios.
  • Provide executive‑level communication, presenting network health, risks, and strategic initiatives to IT and business leadership.
  • Participate in architecture and design governance forums (e.g., Architecture Review Boards)

Operations & Reliability

  • Ensure high availability, performance, and resiliency of enterprise LAN, WAN, SD‑WAN, wireless, internet, and data center networks.
  • Lead incident, problem, and root‑cause management for major network events and outages.
  • Oversee business continuity and disaster recovery network readiness, including regular testing and continuous improvement.
  • Define and track KPIs, SLAs, and operational metrics to drive service quality and accountability.

Engineering & Architecture

  • Oversee the design, implementation, and lifecycle management of: LAN/WAN and global SD‑WAN solutions Wireless networks (campus, branch, and remote sites) Internet edge, firewall, and secure connectivity platforms Hybrid cloud and data center networking
  • Drive standardization, documentation, and automation to improve reliability and operational efficiency.
  • Partner with Cloud and Security teams to integrate networking with Zero Trust, identity, and cloud strategies.

Vendor & Financial Management

  • Own relationships with telecom carriers, ISPs, hardware/software vendors, and managed service providers.
  • Lead RFPs, contract negotiations, SLA enforcement, and performance management.
  • Manage network operating and capital budgets; forecast demand and optimize spend while maintaining service quality.

People Management

  • Lead, mentor, and develop global teams of network engineers, architects, and operations personnel.
  • Set clear expectations, goals, and career development plans to build a high‑performing, accountable organization.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, operational excellence, and knowledge sharing.

Security & Compliance

  • Ensure network architectures meet corporate security standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Partner with cybersecurity teams on vulnerability mitigation, segmentation, secure access, and monitoring initiatives.
  • Support internal and external audits and compliance activities as required.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or similar plus at least 12 years of relevant IT experience, or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
  • At least 6+ years of experience in enterprise networking
  • At least 4 years of leadership experience including budget management
  • Experience supporting global, multi‑region enterprises.
  • Proven experience leading global or large‑scale network environments across data centers, cloud, and distributed sites.
  • Deep knowledge of enterprise networking technologies, including Routing, switching, and WAN / SD‑WAN and wireless architectures, Firewalls, network security, and internet connectivity
  • Strong experience managing vendors, MSPs, carriers, and complex service ecosystems.
  • Demonstrated ability to balance strategic vision with hands‑on technical leadership.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Background in hybrid cloud networking (Azure and/or AWS).
  • Certifications such as CCNP/CCIE, CISSP, or equivalent are a plus.
  • Experience integrating networking with modern security and Zero Trust frameworks.
