Job Description
AECOM is seeking a Construction Inspector to support aviation projects, including airport runways, taxiways, terminals, and related infrastructure located in the Hunt Valley, MD area. This position involves on-site inspection, documentation, and coordination to ensure construction work complies with project plans, specifications, and applicable aviation standards.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Perform daily field inspections on aviation construction projects (runways, taxiways, aprons, utilities)
- Monitor contractor activities to ensure compliance with contract documents, FAA standards, and safety requirements
- Review construction submittals, shop drawings, and materials for conformance with project specifications
- Document daily work activities, quantities, and site conditions through reports, logs, and photo documentation
- Track project progress against schedule and report delays or issues to project management
- Perform field measurements, material testing, and verify workmanship quality
- Coordinate with contractors, engineers, airport authorities, and stakeholders to resolve field issues
- Participate in meetings, including pre-construction, progress, and safety meetings
- Assist with reviewing RFIs, change orders, and contractor pay quantities
- Ensure compliance with QA/QC procedures and safety regulations, including use of PPE on active construction sites
- Sets and manages project deadlines independently
- Supports and trains new employees in the field
- Conducts inspections to ensure compliance with quality standards, performance expectations, specifications, and applicable codes
- Performs daily field inspections and maintains accurate records
- Assists with punch lists, testing, and commissioning activities
- Monitors and reports on quality assurance progress
- Contributes to documentation for area and equipment turnover
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- High School Diploma plus 6 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
- Valid U.S Driver’s License required to visit project sites, clients, and other AECOM offices. As a condition of employment, selected candidate must pass a Motor Vehicle Records review
- Due to the nature of the projects a US Citizenship is required
Preferred Qualifications:
- Basic mathematical calculations and follow simple technical instructions experience
- ICC Level II Certification, NICET Level II certification
