Job Description
Support technical delivery and project work as a Professional Water Engineer, contributing to the design and delivery of three waters infrastructure projects across the Wellington region and New Zealand. You will apply your civil engineering skills across design, modelling, and project delivery while working with project managers, senior engineers, multidisciplinary teams, and clients.
Based in Wellington, this role offers the opportunity to work across water, wastewater, and stormwater infrastructure projects while building your technical capability, client exposure, and project experience. You will contribute to high-quality engineering outcomes and support the continued growth of AECOM’s Water business in New Zealand.
You’ll be involved in a range of three waters projects including reticulation networks, pump stations, storage facilities, and associated infrastructure, helping deliver projects that benefit local communities.
- Support the delivery of designs, models, calculations, and documentation for water, wastewater, and stormwater projects
- Apply New Zealand standards, codes, and council requirements with guidance from senior engineers
- Assist in building and maintaining client and stakeholder relationships
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver coordinated engineering solutions
- Contribute to project reviews, quality processes, and delivery timelines
- Work with national and global teams to apply best-practice water solutions
- Continue developing technical skills across design, modelling, and project delivery
Qualifications
We’re looking for motivated candidates who are developing their careers in water engineering. If you don’t meet every requirement, we still encourage you to apply.
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Civil, Environmental, or Water Engineering (or similar)
- 2–5 years’ experience in three waters or civil infrastructure projects
- Exposure to network design, pipelines, pump stations, or related infrastructure
- Working towards Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) status (preferred)
- Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to learn
- Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams
- Good communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Understanding of New Zealand water standards and council requirements (desirable)
