Job Description
AECOM is seeking two Senior Site Engineers (Civil Engineering IV) for our Tunnel Practice in Mississauga, ON or Markham, ON or to lead on-site construction for underground works across TBM and SEM/NATM tunnels and support of excavation, ensuring safe, compliant, and efficient delivery aligned with approved drawings, specifications, method statements, and ITPs. This is a newly created position.
Responsibilities:
- In this role, you will coordinate day-to-day field engineering; manage RFIs and site clarifications from drafting to closeout.
- Review temporary works, set-outs, sequencing, and hold/witness points; and maintain daily logs, photo records, and concise progress reports.
- You will verify TBM launch/arrival readiness, monitor operational parameters, and oversee segment installation quality and interventions; manage SEM headings and sequencing, shotcrete application and testing, lattice girders/steel ribs, and temporary lining with excavation class validation.
- You will inspect and control SOE systems (diaphragm/slurry walls, secant/soldier piles and lagging, sheet piles, struts/bracing, ground anchors), dewatering/groundwater management, and utilities protection, ensuring proper sequencing, preloading/lock-off, and as-built traceability.
- You will implement and track instrumentation and monitoring (settlement points, prisms, inclinometers, piezometers, extensometers, load cells), interpret trends against trigger/action thresholds, and initiate timely mitigations and design check-backs.
- Enforce QA/QC (material approvals, inspections, NCRs/SNs to closure), uphold safety and environmental controls (permits-to-work, JSAs/THAs, confined space/LOTO, noise/vibration/dust management), and coordinate proactively with geotechnical, structural, MEP, utilities, survey, contractor, designer, and client teams to resolve constraints and protect schedule and quality.
Qualifications
