Job Description

AECOM is actively searching for an experienced Proposal Manager to work with our global mining team.

In this role, you will be responsible for leading key proposals and presentations, providing support and guidance from pre-RFP positioning and capture through to interview stage as required; as well as leading proposal teams that support mining or other environmental, infrastructure, and water related contracts.

The ideal candidate will offer experience across international and U.S.-based proposals, exceptional proposal writing and leadership skills, a track record of rigorous compliance, proven pre-positioning and capture experience, and innovative design thinking

Job Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

  • Accountable for timely, compliant, accurate, and persuasive proposal development and leadership. Responsible for leading large, complex, priority must win pursuits from capture through to interview stage, as required.

  • Understands capture planning best practice and provides robust support and guidance to capture managers in development of the win strategy.

  • Serves as coach for interview, Q&A and preparing team for global or must win opportunities.

  • Facilitates color reviews (Pink and Red team), and applies lessons learned to add value to proposal and win plan.

  • Serves as a compliance reviewer and reviewer on color reviews (pink and red teams) for priority pursuits, applying in-depth institutional knowledge.

  • Participates actively in Go/No-Go decisions, capture strategy development, and greenlight analyses, drives compliance with delegation of authority guidelines, capture planning and positioning activities, and provides leadership and direction, where required.

  • Familiar with the Go/No-Go process and provides guidance as necessary.

  • Analyzes debriefs and applies lessons learned to add value to strategy and reviews.

  • Contributes to leadership and strategic direction for proposals for their account, and reports on client pipeline, internal business development strategies, capture planning, proposal efforts, and debriefs related to that client or market.

  • Is a subject matter expert for specific client/portfolio or sector.

  • Actively supports marketing strategy and content development related to clients/markets, in collaboration with marketing communications, client account managers (CAMs) and business lines, as necessary.

  • May supervise small number of staff or serve as an active mentor to Bid Management Coordinators or Specialists. Supports content development for the website, brochures, and other digital media and thought leadership in collaboration with Client Account Managers (CAMs) or Market Sector Leaders, as required.

  • Accountable for results of proposal activity on time and within budget

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • BA/BS + 8 Years of experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
  • Previous experience leading business proposals in the environmental, infrastructure, or mining sectors.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • BA/BS, preferably in Journalism, English, Communications, Marketing or a related field
  • Working knowledge of and interest in the A/E industry, including AECOM’s mining related clients, projects, people, credentials, and competitors.
  • A thorough understanding of effective proposal and presentation best practices and tools, including how to convey messages, themes, discriminators, and responses to evaluation criteria clearly and effectively.
  • Demonstrated experience applying industry best practices and procedures to support positioning, client or business development processes.
  • Strong proposal writing and editing skills, including grammar and style.
  • A strong working knowledge of desktop publishing software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite), graphics programs (e.g., InDesign, Adobe Acrobat, Photoshop), word processing programs (e.g., Microsoft Word), spreadsheet management (Excel), and presentation software (e.g., PowerPoint).
  • A working knowledge of collaborative tools such as Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, etc.
  • An understanding of CRM. Salesforce experience is a plus.
  • Initiative, skill, and personal commitment to manage multiple projects and details concurrently, follow up, and bring tasks and projects to full completion.
  • Professional demeanor and excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to exercise discretion with confidential/sensitive issues.
  • Ability to work independently and with others.
  • Diplomacy with peers and internal clients in handling challenging situations.
  • Resourceful problem solver.
