Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
The candidate will be responsible for leading and delivering Traffic Impact Studies (TIS) and Traffic Impact Assessments (TIA) in full compliance with Ashghal and MoT guidelines, ensuring that all submissions meet authority requirements and approval standards. This includes undertaking detailed traffic analysis and junction assessments for signalized and unsignalized intersections, roundabouts, and interchanges using industry-standard software such as SIDRA, Synchro, HCS, and VISSIM.
- The role requires the ability to develop, interpret, and critically review outputs from the Qatar Strategic Transport Model (QSTM) to support traffic forecasting, development impact assessments, and strategic transport studies.
- The candidate will carry out traffic forecasting, including peak hour analysis, AADT estimation, and application of growth factors, supported by validation using Automatic Traffic Count (ATC) data and traffic surveys.
- A key aspect of the role involves managing authority submissions and approvals, including coordination with Ashghal and MoT addressing review comments, and ensuring timely approvals.
- The candidate will also prepare and review Traffic Diversion Plans (TDP) and construction traffic management schemes in line with project phasing and safety requirements.
- In addition, the Senior Traffic Engineer will provide technical input into access design, internal circulation, parking layouts, and integration of pedestrian, cyclist, and public transport infrastructure, ensuring alignment with best practices and local standards.
- The role includes mentoring junior engineers, overseeing the quality of technical deliverables, and ensuring consistency and accuracy across all reports and analyses.
- The candidate will actively participate in technical meetings, workshops, and presentations with clients and authorities, representing the project team and providing clear, professional technical input.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Transportation Engineering, with a minimum of 9 years of relevant professional experience in traffic engineering and transport planning.
- Strong experience in Qatar or the GCC region is essential, particularly in delivering projects in compliance with Ashghal and MoT requirements.
- Hands-on experience with key traffic modelling and analysis tools, including QSTM, VISUM, VISSIM, SIDRA, Synchro, or equivalent software.
- Demonstrated experience in managing authority approvals and familiarity with Ashghal TIS approval processes are critical.
- Excellent technical report writing, communication, and stakeholder coordination skills are required to effectively deliver and present complex traffic studies.
