Job Description
The Contract Manager for Building & Township Projects will be responsible for managing all contractual aspects of large-scale building and township infrastructure projects. This includes overseeing claims, variations, and extensions of time (EOT), ensuring compliance with FIDIC and government contracts, and mitigating risks. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in contract administration within contractor or consultant organizations, with a strong focus on building and township infrastructure projects.
Role & responsibilities
- Oversees the administration and communication of all elements of contractual terms and conditions from proposal stage through contract close-out and audit.
- Ensure compliance with contractual terms and monitor project performance against contract requirements.
- Maintain accurate documentation and records for all building project contracts.
- Assess and evaluate claims, variations, and extensions of time (EOT) in line with contract provisions.
- Prepare and submit variation orders and claims to clients or stakeholders for building projects.
- Negotiate and resolve disputes related to claims and variations
- Identify potential risks in building project contracts and develop mitigation strategies.
- Provide expert advice to project teams on contractual risks and opportunities specific to building projects.
- Apply knowledge of FIDIC and government contracts to building projects, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and regulations.
- Interpret and implement contract provisions to safeguard the organization's interests.
- Work closely with project managers, legal teams, and clients to ensure smooth execution of building project contracts.
- Act as the primary point of contact for all contractual matters in building projects.
- Generate detailed reports on contract performance, claims, and variations for building projects.
- Analyze contractual data to identify trends and recommend improvements.
- Directly and through subordinates, assists all departments in developing contracts within company policies.
- Examines estimates and delivery schedules.
- Prepares bids, process specifications, test and progress reports and other exhibits that may be required.
Qualifications
- Minimum 8 years in a Contract Administration role, specifically within contractor or consultant organizations handling building projects.
- Strong expertise in managing contracts for building construction projects, including claims, variations, and EOT assessments.
Additional Information
- Manages a team of contract administrators.
- Familiarity with construction industry standards, building codes, and regulations.
