Job Description
The New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) is rolling out a new program under the AECOM/NYCHA Comprehensive Modernization Program team, that will address damage sustained in 2021 from Hurricane Ida across multiple impacted NYCHA sites. One of the first IDA projects is Leavitt-Latimer-Watson comprised of 2 developments in Queens and 1 development in the Bronx for a total of 6 buildings under a single design-build contract of approximately $90-96M value. The scope will implement a variety of flood mitigation strategies to prevent future flooding, electrify heating and hot water systems using heat pump technologies, as well as plumbing-related repairs with kitchen and bathroom renovations and elevator replacement at one site.
We are looking for a NY/NJ architect with the following flood mitigation experience to lead the development of the design criteria for procurement, and oversee the design implementation during Design-Build for this new IDA program:
- Performs various management, leadership, and people accountability responsibilities for a specific technical group or department.
- Has full responsibility for interpreting, organizing, executing, and coordinating technical assignments.
- Generally, requires multi-disciplinary knowledge of architecture.
- Plans and develops engineering tasks concerned with unique or controversial problems. This involves exploration of subject area, definition of scope and selection of problems for investigation and development of novel concepts and approaches.
- Maintains liaison with units within the organization and individuals inside and outside of the organization.
- Responsible for acting independently on technical matters pertaining to the field.
- Work at this level usually requires extensive progressive experience.
- Works under minimal supervision. Supervision received is essentially administrative with assignments given in terms of broad general objectives and limits.
- Manages group of architects and/or designers, coordinating activities of the unit.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- BA/BS + 8 years or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
Preferred Requirements:
- Worked with large NYC agencies and/or developers.
- Licensed Architect in NY.
- Worked as a lead architect on large complex projects in NYC.
- Was the lead architect for large housing/residential projects in NYC or other complex projects such as airports or schools/universities.
