Job Description

AECOM Edmonton is seeking a motivated and skilled Intermediate Water/Wastewater Engineer to join our Water Infrastructure team. In this role, you will work alongside senior engineers, EITs, technologists, CAD designers, and project managers to deliver high-quality and technically challenging process design projects within the water and wastewater treatment and conveyance sector.

You will also have the opportunity to collaborate with other disciplines, including civil, electrical, and mechanical, on multi-disciplinary projects.

The responsibilities of this position include:

  • Demonstrate sound judgment, creativity, and foresight in addressing technical and client challenges while organizing and delivering engineering projects.
  • Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary project teams and clients.
  • Apply standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria to complete project assignments.
  • Perform preliminary and detailed engineering design, including technical reports and memoranda.
  • Prepare engineering drawings, sketches, schematics, and technical specifications.
  • Complete technical calculations and analyses to support design decisions.
  • Prepare technical reports and project documentation.
  • Review quantity takeoffs and cost estimates for completeness and accuracy.
  • Support delivery of municipal infrastructure projects, primarily in water and wastewater sectors.
  • Provide construction administration and field services, including reviewing construction progress.
  • Coordinate work across multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development and industry engagement.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Environmental, Civil, Mechanical, Chemical or Process)
  • 4+ years of experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education in the municipal water/wastewater industry.
  • Willing to travel to and visit active construction sites, providing field review services
  • Registered as a Professional Engineer with APEGA in the province of Alberta (or eligible to become registered within 6 months).

 Preferred Requirements

  • 8+ years of progressive experience within municipal water/wastewater industry.
  • Familiarity with industry standards and strong working knowledge of water and wastewater treatment design and engineering.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Experience with water/wastewater treatment facilities, pumping stations, and water conveyance.
  • Good working knowledge of industry standard and local municipal standards and guidelines.
  • Strong skills in communication and technical writing.
  • Class 5 Alberta Driver’s license and access to a vehicle
