Our Southampton team continues to grow, with specific growth demand within the Education, Defence, Commercial, Residential, Care and Industrial markets where we have successfully secured positions with many high-profile clients and some key local projects and programs in the industry.

If you are a Associate Project Surveyor looking to work on building projects that can change the world, projects that are always more complex and innovative than the last, then this role could be for you?

As a Associate Project Surveyor in our Southampton Team, you will be joining like-minded individuals that have a passion for innovation and delivering cutting edge solutions.

Here’s what you’ll do:

  • You will be primarily working alongside a Director to successfully manage and deliver consultancy services on various capital projects across the Southern England. 
  • The role will cover the whole project lifecycle from initial inception/business case development estimates, managing costs through the design stages, procurement and onto the site delivery, commissioning and operation.
  • Lead Cost Management commissions, taking responsibility for their successful delivery.
  • Provide effective support and mentoring to Senior Cost Managers, Cost Managers, Graduates and Apprentices.
  • Ensure commissions are managed and completed efficiently, on time and to the client’s satisfaction.
  • Develop strong reciprocal relationships with clients and members of the project team.
  • Be the primary interface with AECOM clients (new and existing).
  • Ensure all staff members reporting to you have current and relevant training.
  • Manage the delivery of cost management team outputs, in accordance with agreed timescales and quality standards.
  • Managing and motivating a project team of surveyors.

Approach to all projects requires a high degree of flexibility and creativity, excellent presentational skills and an ability to communicate effectively with clients and consultants.  The successful candidate shall be charged with the delivery of Cost Management Services within our Client focused and highly motivated professional team. 

Minimum Requirements :

  • Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills are key.
  • Ability to develop long term relationships with all team members, and effectively balance people and processes. 
  • You will ideally be a self-motivated individual from a consultancy or client organisation background with the ability to work both independently and as part of a wider team.
  • Proven experience in a consulting environment/client organisation providing the full spectrum of Cost Management services including Pre-Contract Estimating; Procurement; Contract Administration, Cost Reporting and Final Account resolution.
  • Solid and practised core measurement skills with experience of quantified procurement routes.
  • Previous experience of managing internal resources, including the training and mentoring of more junior staff members.
  • Good Understanding of contracts (JCT and NEC).

Qualifications

Here’s what we’re looking for:

 

  • Degree Qualified – BSc or MSc – in Quantity Surveying / Cost Management.
  • Professionally Qualified – ideally Chartered Quantity Surveying Status with the RICS, CIOB or other equivalent institution.
  • Full UK driving license, and a willingness to travel.
  • CSCS card holder
