Job Description
AECOM is seeking a Construction Management Project Engineer to work remotely or in Houstin, TX to support transportation infrastructure projects within our Transportation Business Line in Houston, Texas. This role will focus on Construction, Engineering, and Inspection (CEI) services, providing technical support and field oversight for roadway, bridge, and related transportation construction projects. The successful candidate will work closely with contractors, clients, and multidisciplinary AECOM teams to ensure quality, safety, and compliance throughout all phases of construction. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to major transportation improvements across Texas while developing technical and leadership capabilities within a dynamic construction management environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Support CEI activities including construction oversight, field inspections, documentation, and reporting for transportation construction projects.
- Assist with reviewing plans, specifications, estimates, and contractor submittals for accuracy and compliance.
- Monitor construction progress, quality of work, and adherence to project schedules and contract requirements.
- Prepare daily field reports, maintain project documentation, and track quantities and pay items.
- Coordinate with contractors, designers, and clients to resolve field issues and support successful project delivery.
- Participate in preconstruction meetings, progress meetings, and site visits.
- Support change order review, claims assessment, and constructability evaluations.
- Promote and maintain a strong safety culture, ensuring compliance with safety policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary AECOM teams to provide engineering support and technical guidance as needed.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field and 6+ years of relevant construction management or CEI experience, or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
- MVR check required.
Preferred Qualifications
- 12+ years of CEI or transportation construction management experience, including field engineering, inspection, and contractor coordination.
- Experience supporting Texas transportation agencies or municipal infrastructure clients.
- Strong understanding of roadway and bridge construction practices, materials, and specifications.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain within 12 months.
- Experience with construction documentation systems and field data collection tools.
