Job Description

Start here. Grow here.

At AECOM, we are currently recruiting for a Senior Project Manager (Power) to join our Dublin office.

The Senior Project Manager will provide strategic leadership in the planning, coordination, and delivery of major power infrastructure programmes across Dublin Airport’s landside campus. This senior-level role carries full accountability for the safe, efficient, and commercially sound execution of complex electrical utility projects, including high-, medium-, and low-voltage systems, substations, renewable energy integration, and energy resilience initiatives.

You will operate within a live, highly regulated airport environment, leading multidisciplinary teams and managing critical stakeholder relationships to ensure successful programme outcomes.

The Senior Project Manager (Power) will be required to attend site four days per week and one day per week will be remote working.

Here’s what you’ll do

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

Strategic Power Infrastructure Leadership

  • Provide senior oversight across the full project lifecycle, from concept and design through procurement, construction, commissioning, and handover.

  • Lead the delivery of major electrical infrastructure programmes across LV, MV, and HV networks, including primary and secondary distribution systems.

  • Direct the development of new substations and the upgrade of existing assets, including switchgear renewals and transformer installations.

  • Oversee integration of SCADA systems, protection schemes, and grid interface requirements to ensure operational reliability and resilience.

  • Guide the design and construction of utility corridors, underground and overhead cable routes, ducting networks, chambers, and interfaces with existing services.

  • Ensure compliance with ESB Networks standards, airport electrical safety regulations, and applicable IEC/EN standards.

Energy Resilience & Sustainable Infrastructure

  • Lead the implementation of resilient power systems that safeguard airport operations and critical assets.

  • Drive the integration of renewable energy solutions and low-carbon infrastructure initiatives.

  • Contribute to long-term capacity planning aligned with growth projections, decarbonisation strategies, and energy efficiency targets.

Programme, Commercial & Contract Leadership

  • Provide senior management oversight of complex works delivered within a live operational airport environment, ensuring zero disruption to critical systems.

  • Lead programme governance, including scheduling, risk management, phasing, and interface coordination across multiple concurrent projects.

  • Administer NEC4 contracts (ECC Options A, C, and D), ensuring robust commercial management and compliance.

  • Oversee early warnings, compensation events, variations, change control, and cost management processes.

  • Maintain strict adherence to health, safety, and environmental standards, including RAMS approval, permit-to-work systems, and electrical isolation procedures.

Stakeholder & Regulatory Management

  • Act as the senior point of contact for internal stakeholders including Operations, Asset Management, Safety, ICT, and Facilities teams.

  • Lead engagement with external stakeholders such as ESB Networks, planners, consultants, contractors, and regulatory authorities.

  • Coordinate statutory approvals, grid connections, and ensure full regulatory compliance across all stages of delivery.

Qualifications

Ready to push the limits of what’s possible?

We are seeking a highly experienced professional with a strong background in our primary infrastructure markets, including aviation.

As the successful candidate, you will bring the following qualifications and experience:

  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience managing large-scale projects within heavy civil works and energy infrastructure sectors.

  • Extensive experience delivering substation projects and working with HV/MV electrical systems.

  • Demonstrated track record in the successful implementation of renewable energy solutions, including solar PV, geothermal, or comparable technologies.

  • Strong leadership capability with excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills.

  • Sound knowledge of Irish construction legislation and energy regulatory frameworks is desirable.

  • Professional project management accreditation (PMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent) preferred.
