Job Description
Our rail team in Sydney is growing to support an impressive pipeline of work across Australia and New Zealand. With major rail projects underway and planned from Sydney’s expanding metro network and light rail builds to broader infrastructure investment tracked across the ANZ market - there’s significant demand for experienced rail engineering specialists. This role has been created to help us meet that demand and deliver high-impact railway infrastructure solutions that improve connectivity, reliability and capacity across the region
How you’ll make a difference:
- Deliver high-quality technical design across complex rail electrical systems including traction power, HV/LV distribution, substations and associated infrastructure.
- Provide subject matter expertise to support safe, compliant and efficient rail solutions aligned with client and operator standards.
- Undertake and review detailed calculations, design reports, specifications and drawings across all project phases.
- Resolve technical interface challenges across signalling, communications, civil and systems disciplines to ensure integrated outcomes.
- Support assurance activities including design reviews, verification processes and compliance documentation.
- Contribute technical input to bids and proposals, developing practical and innovative electrical solutions for major rail projects.
Qualifications

The qualities that help you thrive:
- Tertiary qualification in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent) with eligibility for membership of Engineers Australia; Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) status is highly regarded.
- Demonstrated competency in rail-specific electrical systems, including 1500V DC traction power, high-voltage distribution, and associated protection/control systems, in accordance with Sydney Trains and TfNSW standards.
- Comprehensive knowledge of designer’s obligations under Rail Safety National Law and TfNSW engineering assurance processes, including experience working within a Technically Assured Organisation (TAO) framework.
