Job Description
AECOM is hosting an exclusive, invitation-only hiring event in Atlanta February 11th - 12th. This is a great opportunity to learn and connect with AECOM for career opportunities starting Spring/Summer 2026.
The event kicks off on Wednesday evening with a networking mixer from 6-8 pm, where you can hear from AECOM staff about various projects, career paths, and the company itself. You’ll also have the chance to meet other students, recent graduates, and AECOM professionals from across our business lines.
On Thursday, interviews will take place at our Atlanta, GA office. This is a fantastic opportunity to learn about and connect with AECOM for early career opportunities.
AECOM is looking for an Entry-Level Environmental Scientist position in our Franklin, Tennessee office location.
This position is expected to start in Spring/Summer 2026.
We will also consider exceptional candidates in other AECOM locations in the Southeast United States. The successful candidate will work within an interdisciplinary, collaborative environment that provides career growth opportunities within AECOM’s Remediation Southeast Team. This position will consist of both in-person and virtual (telework) work environments and will include performing environmental contamination assessments, contamination remediation, plan reviews, and technical report writing. Our Remediation Southeast team primarily works on projects in Tennessee, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, and Florida.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
- Utilizes basic scientific principles, theories, practices and existing technologies to develop solutions for technical problems with limited scope.
- Collects and enters data, and applies technical principles and theories.
- Interprets and records data, conducts analyses, compares findings to relevant studies and local, state and federal regulations to ensure compliance.
- Entry-level position; may not require previous experience.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- BA/BS in Environmental Science, Geology, Hydrogeology, Environmental Geology, Engineering Geology or related field + 0 years of related experience and/or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
- Valid U.S Driver's License and as a condition of employment, must pass AECOM's Motor Vehicle Records Review
- Due to the nature of work, U.S. Citizenship is required
- As a condition of employment, candidates must pass a drug screening.
- As a condition of employment, candidates must pass a medical screening.
- Willing to work in a hybrid work environment, with office presence for two days a week.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Proficiency in standard office suite software applications
- OSHA 40 Hour HAZWOPER Certification
- GIS and other data interpretation software skills are desirable (e.g., R, Grapher, Surfer, etc.)
- Ability to write and to convey complex thoughts and ideas in a clear, concise manner
- Knowledge of CADD/GIS
- Willingness to travel, complete field work, and work extended hours, when necessary.
- Knowledge of Southeast States environmental regulations and setting.
