Job Description
AECOM is currently hiring a Site Survey Assistant to join a field crew based out of our Hunt Valley, MD office. This position will support transportation-related projects, including roadway, highway, and similar infrastructure assignments. The role offers the opportunity to work as part of a collaborative team on a variety of projects while gaining hands-on field experience in support of large-scale transportation initiatives.
- Under direct supervision, conducts surveys to ascertain the locations of natural features and human-made structures on the earth's surface, underground, and underwater, using electronic distance-measuring equipment and other surveying instruments
- Operates and manages land-information computer systems, performs tasks such as storing data, making inquiries, and producing plots and reports
- Reviews information from survey teams regarding measurement of distances, directions, angles between points and elevation of points, lines, and contours on, above, and below the earth’s surface
- Research legal records, looks for evidence of previous boundaries, and analyzes the data to determine the location of boundary lines
- Records the results of surveys, verifies the accuracy of data, and prepares plots, maps, and reports
- An experienced professional with general understanding of area of specialization
- Normally receives instruction on routine work
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Valid U.S Driver’s License required to visit project sites, clients, and other AECOM offices. As a condition of employment, selected candidate must pass a Motor Vehicle Records review
- Due to the nature of the projects a US Citizenship is required
Preferred Qualifications:
- Basic mathematical calculations and follow simple technical instructions experience
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow established procedures under routine supervision
- Organizational skills to manage multiple datasets, files, and reports without errors
