Job Description

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly qualified Contract Expert with extensive experience in civil contract work, specializing in Design, Engineering, Procurement, Supply, and Construction (DEPSC) contracts for major highway and bridge projects. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of managing contracts for large-scale infrastructure projects, including at least one project involving International Competitive Bidding (ICB) funded by Multilateral/Bilateral Funding Agencies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, review, and negotiate contracts for civil works, ensuring compliance with project specifications, legal requirements, and funding agency guidelines
  • Manage contractual obligations, including risk assessment, claims management, and dispute resolution.
  • Ensure adherence to international standards and best practices in contract administration.
  • Lead the preparation and evaluation of tender documents for ICB projects.
  • Coordinate procurement processes in alignment with funding agency protocols.
  • Provide strategic guidance on bid evaluation, contractor selection, and award processes.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including design, engineering, and construction specialists, to ensure seamless contract execution.
  • Monitor project progress and ensure compliance with contractual terms and timelines.
  • Liaise with funding agencies, government authorities, and stakeholders to address contractual and regulatory requirements.
  • Identify potential risks in contract execution and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Handle claims, variations, and extensions of time requests, ensuring fair and equitable outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate records of contractual correspondence, amendments, and deliverables.
  • Prepare periodic reports on contract performance, highlighting key metrics and areas for improvement.

Qualifications

  • Graduate in Civil Engineering/Construction Management/Certificate in from a recognized University.
    Experience:
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in civil contract work, with a focus on highways and major bridge projects.
  • At least 3 years of experience as a Contract Specialist in DEPSC contracts for Highways/major bridge projects.
  • Proven experience in managing contracts for ICB projects funded by Multilateral/Bilateral Funding Agencies (e.g., World Bank, Asian Development Bank, etc.).
