Are you a Project Management (Infrastructure) professional looking to work on projects that make a difference and enhance the world around us? If so, we are looking to attract the finest talent to be part of this journey.
We are looking for a Senior Project Managers (Infrastructure) to join our teams across our North, Midlands and Scotland Region operating from 8 regional offices, to work on a variety of interesting and challenging projects, both nationally and locally. You will be joining a growing team of like-minded people that have a passion for innovation and delivering cutting edge solutions.
Here's what you'll do
- Lead Project Management commissions, taking responsibility for their successful delivery.
- Lead and develop multi-disciplinary teams including commercial, programme controls, engineering, and others to identify solutions to client requirements and establish a robust baseline plan.
- Engage with and lead stakeholder relationships including internal and external parties, taking account of their levels of influence and particular interests.
- Establish and maintain governance arrangements for the delivery of projects, defining clear roles, responsibilities and accountabilities that align with organisational practice.
- Understanding the need, problem or opportunity that the project will address, clearly demonstrating the benefits being delivered through the programme/project life cycle.
- Ensure commissions are managed and completed efficiently, on time and to the client’s satisfaction.
- Accountable for delivery of projects in a safe & environmentally responsible manner to time, cost and quality, in accordance with the GRIP or PACE.
- Manage multi-disciplinary teams including commercial, programme controls, engineering, and others to deliver the client requirements.
- Support the project sponsor in preparing and maintaining definitions of the project requirements.
- Identify and monitor project risks (threats and opportunities), plan and implement mitigations to them, and respond to other issues that affect the project.
- Managing stakeholders, taking account of their levels of influence and particular interests.
- Managing project reviews at appropriate points throughout the project lifecycle which will inform governance decisions of projects by providing evaluations of progress, performance, risk, contingency, and continuing relevance.
- Accountable for managing the safe and effective delivery of all projects from low complexity single discipline through to high complexity multi-disciplinary projects to meet client requirements to time, cost, quality, and performance.
- Consolidating and documenting the fundamental components of projects (scope, schedule, resource requirements, budgets, risks, opportunities and issues, and quality requirements).
- Developing and agreeing strategies and contracts for the provision of services, monitoring compliance and managing variances for your projects.
- Establishing and maintaining governance arrangements for the delivery of projects, defining clear roles, responsibilities and accountabilities, that align with organisational practice.
- Ensure compliance with the Construction Design Management Regulations Act of 2015
- Advise the client on procurement strategies and review tender documentation.
- Understand the value of the programme/project beyond the financial impact, coordinating multi- discipline teams to agreed and achievable objectives
- Be the primary interface with AECOM clients, developing strong reciprocal relationships with clients and members of the project team.
- Lead internal project management teams and be accountable for their utilisation.
- Manage the submission of project management bids.
- Client and Framework management.
- Provide effective support and mentoring to Graduates and Apprentices.

Here’s what we’re looking for
- A minimum 6 years’ experience, providing a full spectrum of PM services including general contract management and administration, proactively engaging with relevant stakeholders and ensuring delivery within the agreed parameters.
- Demonstrable experience and knowledge of NEC3/4 contract management, ideally with Accreditation.
- A relevant degree such as in project management, engineering, environmental science, construction, or relevant subject. Alternatively, relevant experience in industry would be considered acceptable for exceptional candidates.
- NEC4 Accreditation with experience of managing and administering NEC4 contracts.
- Experience of working in the Rail industry with an understanding of railway systems and processes such as GRIP or PACE.
- Successful relevant experience in a complex project environment including demonstrable experience in team management, planning, contracting and delivery of projects.
- Successful record of project budget management and ability to understand and interpret commercial and financial landscapes (budgets, forecasts, actual status).
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills at all levels. This should include Customers; 3rd party representatives, other business & functional leaders and key support personnel.
- Experience in managing ambiguity in a project environment with strong evaluation and decision-making skills.
- Application of Construction Design Management within the rail industry.
- Knowledge of railway assets and how they are managed.
- Project safety management and Health and Safety legislation knowledge.
- Clear experience of project budget management.
- Experience of safety cases in support of projects.
- Good stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
- Proven ability to advise clients and design teams on value, risks and programme in a holistic way.
- Passionate about delivering high quality consulting services to our clients.
- Excellent IT Skills and the ability to utilise current digital tools.
- Willingness to challenge in a positive and engaging manner.
- Accountable and responsible for own actions.
- Clear experience of business development and bidding.
- Ability to manage client relationships effectively both internally and externally.
- Prior team and line management experience with clear leadership skills.
- Keen to work as part of a team and to develop and progress career development.
