Be part of a high-performing team delivering impactful water, wastewater, and BC Hydro–related infrastructure projects across Western Canada. This is a great opportunity to grow your technical depth while contributing to projects that directly support community resilience and clean energy infrastructure. - Support and execute portions of larger engineering assignments, including data collection, analysis, calculations, and routine testing.
- Deliver quality work on schedule and within budget with minimal supervision.
- Guide and mentor junior engineers.
- Lead EI&C tasks for municipal and BC Hydro–type projects, preparing specifications, studies, and reports for power distribution, grounding, lighting, cable tray systems, VFDs/soft-starts, standby power, and low-voltage systems.
- Independently produce a full range of electrical and instrumentation design documents (SLDs, 3LDs, layouts, schematics, P&IDs, cable schedules, fire alarm layouts, control panels, and more).
- Ensure all deliverables meet AECOM and client standards, regulatory requirements, and engineering best practices.
- Collaborate closely with Project Managers, Leads, and multidisciplinary engineering teams.
Qualifications
Minimum requirements:
- University Degree in Electrical Engineering, (Power Systems focus) from an accredited post-secondary institution.
- 4+ years related industry and engineering design experience in a multi-disciplinary electrical, power and/or instrumentation & control environment - power generation, transmission, or industrial power system design (hydro experience preferred).
- Registered Professional in Canada (EGBC preferred) or eligibility to quickly obtain EGBC registration with registration in another Canadian jurisdiction.
- Applicable experience in electrical related design and commissioning, preferably encompassing hydropower station electrical systems, substation design, and/or protection and control.
Preferred qualifications:
- Familiar with the Canadian Electrical Code, IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers), other recognized standards such as CEC, IEEE, NFPA, NEMA, NESC, ANSI, ATS, ISA, IESNA.
- 8+ years related industry and engineering design experience in a multi-disciplinary electrical, power and/or instrumentation & control environment - power generation, transmission, or industrial power system design (hydro experience preferred).
- Proven track record in design and production of tender documents such as P&IDs, single line diagrams, control and communication system diagrams, electrical and instrument location drawings, loop & schematic wiring diagrams; developing equipment load schedules, cable & tray calculations, instrumentation list and specifications sheets, standard details; contract specifications, electrical studies and reports.
- Perform electrical system studies and calculations. Proficient in use of AutoCAD and/or other design tools (AutoCAD P&IDs/Electrical, REVIT MEP) will be a desirable asset.
- Good analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Experience with utility design practices (BC Hydro, Hydro One, Manitoba Hydro, etc.) is a strong asset.
- Excellent English written and oral communications skills; proven interpersonal skills, self-motivated, results oriented, ability to work independently and be flexible to perform work under tight schedules in a fast-paced integrated multi-disciplinary team environment.
