Job Description

About the Program

AECOM has been appointed to deliver the Shell Mobility program across the Benelux region. As part of this program, AECOM is managing the rollout of a new shop format across multiple Shell Mobility retail sites, including both traditional fuel stations and new electric vehicle charging locations. Other projects in this program can include fuel installations, underground tank inspections and replacements, civil activities, HVAC, car care, signage, electrical installations etc.

AECOM provides end-to-end project delivery services, from engineering and procurement through to construction and handover, with a strong focus on safety, quality, and operational excellence. To support this rollout, we are expanding our Benelux team and are looking for experienced professionals who can lead and coordinate multiple projects from design through to completion.

About AECOM Netherlands

AECOM’s Netherlands team includes around 110 professionals based in The Hague and several regional site hubs. We work across engineering, construction, environmental, transportation, and health & safety projects. Collaboration and innovation are at the heart of what we do, and our teams work together to deliver lasting impact across the region.

The Role

As Project Manager, you will oversee the planning, coordination, and delivery of Shell Mobility’s new shop format rollout across the Benelux region, and possibly other projects. You will manage all phases of the project lifecycle, from initial scoping and design through to construction, handover, and closeout.

You will ensure each site is delivered safely, on time, on budget, and to Shell Mobility’s quality and brand standards. Working closely with the Construction Manager, the client team, and contractors, you’ll provide leadership, direction, and communication to keep the rollout running smoothly across multiple active sites.

This is a hands-on role suited to someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys coordinating teams, solving problems, and driving consistent, high-quality project delivery.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead and coordinate the delivery of Shell Mobility’s new shop format, and possibly other projects, across multiple retail sites.
  • Manage all project phases, from site scoping and design development through to construction and handover.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and progress reporting.
  • Collaborate closely with the Construction Manager to plan and monitor site execution.
  • Maintain strong, transparent communication with the client team and internal stakeholders.
  • Lead key project meetings, including design and cost plan reviews, pre-start briefings, progress meetings, and closeouts.
  • Ensure all works meet Shell Mobility’s brand, safety, and quality standards.
  • Manage contractor performance to ensure delivery against scope, cost, and HSSE requirements.
  • Identify risks early and implement effective mitigation strategies.
  • Promote and uphold AECOM and Shell Mobility’s HSSE and ethical standards across all sites.

You’ll Also Be Involved In

  • Reviewing design and cost documentation to ensure alignment with project objectives.
  • Supporting tender and procurement activities where needed.
  • Tracking progress across multiple sites and reporting regularly to the client and program leadership.
  • Coordinating with the wider delivery team to align design, construction, and operational requirements.
  • Driving efficiency, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement throughout the rollout.

Qualifications

  • Engineering or construction-related degree, or equivalent practical experience.
  • At least 5 years of experience in project or program management.
  • Fluent in Dutch and English (spoken and written).
  • Strong understanding of HSSE leadership and compliance.
  • Proven experience managing multi-site or fast-track rollout projects.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (especially Excel and Word).
  • Valid driving license and willingness to travel frequently across the Benelux region.
  • VCA certification (or willingness to obtain).

Nice to Have

  • Experience in fuel retail, mobility, or EV infrastructure projects.
  • Experience delivering retail, fit-out, or refurbishment programs.
  • Background in managing brand rollout or standardized design implementation.
  • Understanding of live-site working environments and operational coordination.

Additional Information

We offer

  • 28 days annual leave.
  • Attractive pension plan with 100% employer's contribution.
  • Bike lease plan.
  • Company car.
  • Public transport reimbursement.
  • Flexible working with Freedom to Grow.
  • 8% vacation allowance.
