Job Description

AECOM Technical Services, Inc., is seeking a Civil Engineering II in Middleton, WI.

Job responsibilities:

  • Apply proven experience to the planning and design of water resources projects, including H&H modeling and floodplain mapping, stormwater quality modeling, flood control projects, stormwater treatment, site development, and transportation-related drainage design.
  • Provide engineering review of stormwater and erosion control plans.
  • Develop scopes of work and budgets for water resources projects or for water resources components of larger projects.
  • Prepare permit applications and pursue approval.
  • Develop and formulate cost-effective, technical solutions to client problems on assigned projects.
  • Prepare construction plans, specifications, construction cost estimates, correspondence, and reports with agreed upon budget and schedule with moderate supervision.
  • Communicate and work with other project team members to provide quality service to clients to ensure that all documentation conforms to client/company standards.
  • Provide guidance to entry level engineers.
  • Collaborate with other groups across AECOM offices.
  • Field work may be required on an occasional basis to support land surveyor and construction engineers.
  • Participate in client meetings to discuss project requirements, explain / defend work, etc.
  • Guide more junior team members with aspects of their job and may coordinate activities of a small team.
  • May telecommute.

Qualifications

  • Candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field and 2 years of experience in the job offered or in a related occupation.
  • Alternatively, the employer will accept a Master’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field. 

Position requires experience in:

  1. Civil engineering design;
  2. Stormwater and floodplain mapping;
  3. Hydrologic and hydraulic analysis;
  4. Roadway drainage conveyance;
  5. Drafting, mapping, and modeling software: AutoCAD Civil 3D, ArcGIS, HEC-HMS, and HEC-RAS;
  6. Water resources modeling programs: PCSWMM, EPA-SWMM, XPSWMM, WinSLAMM, HydroCAD, or HY-8;
  7. Preparing technical reports and related documents with Microsoft Suite programs including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; and
  8. Passed the NCEES Fundamentals of Engineering exam.
