Job Description
We are looking for a Specialist to join our Global Communications team to support employee communications related to our benefits and wellbeing programs. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Global Benefits Communications, this Specialist will be responsible for the development and delivery of clear and engaging communications and campaigns that help employees understand and engage with their benefits and resources to support their health, financial security, and overall wellbeing.
Working closely with HR, Total Rewards, vendors and internal stakeholders, you’ll help build trust, drive engagement, and ensure our benefits and wellbeing offerings are communicated with clarity and care. Based in Los Angeles, this position will be a hybrid with a mix of working in an AECOM office and from home. The successful candidate will join a geographically dispersed communications team to support the execution of benefits and well-being activities that impact and improve the way our people work and live.

Responsibilities include:
- Support the development of and execute on communications campaigns throughout the year in support of Open Enrollment and other benefits and wellbeing initiatives—collaborating on channel selection, tactics and audience targeting to drive understanding and engagement.
- Write and refine clear, accessible content on topics such as medical plan changes, dental and vision coverage, enrollment periods, and retirement education, translating complex benefits details into relatable language.
- Develop and deliver materials to support campaigns and strategies. This includes but is not limited to tactics like leadership messages, employee newsletter stories, intranet content, talking points, FAQs, presentations, blogs, social posts, and videos.
- Tailor messages for diverse global audiences, ensuring alignment with cultural norms and local compliance requirements.
- Partner with internal stakeholders (e.g., regional HR, legal, rewards, internal comms) to ensure communications are timely, accurate, and consistent.
- Track and report engagement metrics and employee feedback to continuously improve communication effectiveness and best practices.
- Provide communication support during change events (e.g., vendor transitions, new program launches, plan design changes) by coordinating messaging drafts and distributing approved communications.
- Maintain and update content on internal benefits platforms and intranet pages.
- Manage translation processes to support global rollout of materials in local languages as needed.
- Coordinate with internal creative teams to produce multimedia or print materials when appropriate.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- BA/BS + 2 years of relevant communications experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
- Strong writing, editing and storytelling skills with the ability to simplify complex information.
- Highly proficient in MS Office suite.
- Demonstrated ability to create a communications plan and execute on it with success.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in HR and/or Benefits communications
- Familiarity with benefits programs and terminology (e.g., medical, dental, 401(k), wellness, EAP, etc.).
- Experience with intranet platforms (SharePoint) and email newsletter platforms (Poppulo, Workshop, etc.) highly preferred
- Web content management experience in WordPress or similar
- Experience supporting global or multinational teams.
- Experience developing all types of communications for various channels: email and newsletters, intranet pages and collateral, social media posts and short form video.
