Job Description
AECOM is actively seeking a Resident Engineer - Highway/Bridge For immediate employment in San Diego, CA.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
- Serve as the project lead in the field, overseeing the construction management staff on highway and bridge-related projects.
- Ensure successful delivery of the project by implementing and adhering to project plans and specifications.
- Act as the main point of contact for the client, maintaining clear and consistent communication throughout the project lifecycle.
- Manage and coordinate daily construction activities, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, quality standards, and project timelines.
- Review and approve contractor submittals, RFIs (Requests for Information), and change orders in a timely manner.
- Conduct regular site inspections and quality control checks to maintain project standards and identify potential issues.
- Prepare and maintain accurate project documentation, including daily reports, progress photos, and as-built drawings.
- Coordinate with various stakeholders, including government agencies, utilities, and subcontractors, to resolve conflicts and ensure smooth project progression.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
- BA/BS + 10 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education, including 2 years of leadership.
California PE License.
Motor Vehicle check will be required.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience as Construction Manager or Resident Engineer on public works highway projects with construction value $40M+.
Experience working with Caltrans, OCTA, SBCTA, RCTC, RCTD, SANDAG, and/or LA Metro.
Excellent Communication Skills.
Experience overseeing a project staff.
Strong understanding of Caltrans standards and Specification.
Experience writing and negotiating change orders.
Experience with dispute resolution and claims.
Highway widening experience.
Structures background.
Tolling Experience.
Existing relationships with transportation entities in Southern California delivering highway projects.
Technical writing skills.
Experience in pursuit interviews as key staff.
