Job Description
As a Project Architect at AECOM, you will combine your creativity, technical aptitude and leadership to support projects in creating unique, sustainably responsible functional solutions for clients. This role will allow you to bring your passion, skills and collaborative spirit to deliver projects that have a direct positive impact on the spaces that define the world we live in. This role is to be based in Denver, CO; Cleveland, OH; Columbus, OH or Chicago, IL.

Our Buildings + Places practice includes architects, interiors, building and system engineering, urbanism and planning (inclusive of landscape design) strategy + (workplace consulting, economics, technology solutions, asset advisory and cost and program management. The diverse team assists our clients from strategy through project realization, and construction; creating positive outcomes for those who occupy and use the buildings and environments we help to create. Within our practice you can expect to work on a wide range of small to large projects in varied market sectors such as Science & Technology, Advanced Manufacturing, Commercial, Aerospace, Higher Education, Industrial and Process, Transportation, Aviation and Federal market sectors.
Job Summary
As a Project Architect you can expect to create and work on conceptual design phase through completion of construction, and in some instances into construction administration. Strong communication skills and broad technical expertise and ability to deliver high-quality projects as part of a multidisciplinary team is key to success.
Primary job function include but are not limited to the following:
- Involvement in all phases of the design process including programming, schematic design, design development, construction documents and construction administration
- Interaction with clients at meetings and presentations
- Participate with the development of design concepts and renderings to communicate design concepts to the team and client.
- Collaboration with the design team, consultants, contractors or vendors to support the development of projects.
- Lead aspects of the design, coordinating with other disciplines, or supporting senior architects on specific tasks.
- Lead and mentor junior architects in the completion of their tasks.
- Prepare specifications, reports and related design deliverables.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor’s in Architecture or related field+ 4 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Architecture (BArch) or Bachelor of Science in Architecture + Master’s degree in Architecture with 5+ years of relevant experience in design, resolving technical issues, or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
- Experience supporting multiple building typologies or markets such as Federal.
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written with the ability to clearly articulate design ideas, coordinate with multiple disciplines and build relationships.
- Positive can do collaborative spirit with the ability to support with problem solving challenging design or technical issues.
- Proficient with Revit and BIM
- Excellent 2D and 3D visual / graphic & design skills utilizing software such as Rhino, Enscape, SketchUp, VRAY, or other visualization tools.
- Experience in AutoCAD, Photoshop, Microsoft Office, is preferred.
- Working knowledge of building codes, standards, building construction, and different building systems.
- Experience developing details and construction documents
- Capable of contributing to the development of project specific specifications.
- Ability to work independently on assigned tasks or with other senior architects to lead integrated design teams of varying sizes to accomplish project delivery from concept through construction document completion and may perform construction administration
- Proficiency in collaborating and achieving results in a team setting (both virtual and in person)
