Job Description

AECOM is searching for a Water/Wastewater Engineering Manager for full-time employment based in our Orange, California office. This is a great opportunity for a Water/Wastewater Engineer with detailed design and project management experience who is seeking a role that allows them to expand their experience and responsibility. The appropriately qualified candidate will have a proven track record in design, project management, proposal writing, business development, and client liaison with the experience and enthusiasm to enhance and grow a well-established design team.

The role is a blend of project execution and team management functions and will appeal to someone looking for increased responsibilities in an interesting and rewarding career.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Supervise mid to junior level engineers on multi-disciplinary projects
  • Responsible for the coordination and completion of projects on time within budget and within scope.
  • Lead technical design staff for projects including:
  • Water conveyance/pipelines,
  • Potable water treatment,
  • Wastewater treatment,
  • Water storage (steel/concrete tanks, dams)
  • Civil site improvements (drainage, grading),
  • Pumping stations (potable water, wastewater, stormwater, and conceptual studies
  • Client liaison and relationship management
  • Prepare documentation related to current or prospective projects, including correspondence, reports, proposals, and technical specifications
  • Communicate and work with other project team members in Orange, Los Angeles, and other regional offices to provide quality service to clients on projects of varying scope and complexity
  • Liaise with and assist other departments and offices in the provision of design services to other clients, as applicable
  • Participates in interdisciplinary review of project deliverables
  • Performs quality control review of design calculations or drawing

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental, or Mechanical Engineering, or other related engineering disciplines and substantial experience in design with 8 years of engineering design and project management in a consulting engineering environment delivering water/wastewater projects or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license

Preferred Qualifications :

  • Master’s Degree in Civil/Environmental/Mechanical Engineering a plus
  • Substantial experience in detailed design with 8+years of engineering design and project management in a consulting engineering environment delivering water/wastewater projects
  • Substantial experience in detailed design with 10+ years of engineering design and project management in a consulting engineering environment delivering water and wastewater infrastructure projects
  • Professional Engineering License in California
  • Experience in Municipal Infrastructure design (water mains, sewers, etc.) is an asset
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD
  • Familiarity with software for modeling water transmission/distribution systems
  • Experience with open channel and closed pipe hydraulic calculations, modelling and design
  • Experience with coaching and guiding less experienced engineers in delivery of design assignments
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently as well as team in building, strong interpersonal, problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Proven ability to write winning proposals and obtain new work
