Job Description

AECOM is actively seeking a highly talented Assistant Resident Engineer for immediate employment in Portland, Oregon, Seattle, Washington, or Spokane, Washington.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Coordinate all aspects of the Project construction phase as the “Owner’s Representative” or “Construction Manager,” including overseeing the construction contract and coordinating with Agency construction, engineering and project management staff, and Consultant design engineering staff. Particular tasks include:

  • Serving as the Agency’s representative for overseeing the construction contract and communicating with the construction contractor.

  • Day-to-day communication with Agency construction staff including the CED Supervising Engineer, Construction Inspector(s), and Construction Technician.

  • Coordination with PBOT Survey on contractor-initiated construction staking requests.

  • Monthly phone/online check-ins with Agency CED Supervising Engineer.

  • Communication and coordination with PBOT engineering staff and other City Bureau staff, examples include Bridges and Structures, Traffic Design, Signals and Street Lighting, the Bureau of Environmental Services, Water Bureau, and Parks & Recreation.

  • Communication and coordination with public/private utilities pertaining to remaining utility conflicts and relocation actions.

  • Coordination with the Consultant design engineer on any design changes needed during construction.

  • Notifying the Project Manager of any complaints or concerns from the general public related to construction issues.

  • Notifying Contractor and Agency construction staff of any safety concerns and coordinating resolution.

  • Monthly tracking of the construction contract budget and overall Project schedule with the Agency CED Supervising Engineer, Construction Technician, and Project Manager.

  • Discussion and resolution of construction issues with the construction contractor and Agency construction staff.

  • Being present at the construction site a minimum of two times per week during construction hours.

  • Be available to meet onsite during construction hours.

  • Most other work can take place offsite, including at a commercial office or home office with internet service sufficient for audio/video online meetings.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • BA/BS + 6 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

Preferred Qualifications

  • 6+ years of experience in construction management

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office

  • Field experience

  • Experience with Primavera and/or Microsoft Project

  • Document control systems
