Job Description

AECOM is seeking a Mid level Environmental Engineer to be based out of one of our offices in Long Beach, Orange, or Los Angeles, California.

The successful candidate will be a self-motivated individual with a strong background in environmental engineering and a successful work history in environmental investigations (groundwater, soil vapor, and soil sampling) and environmental site remediation of impacted sites as well as strong task management and report writing skills.

Responsibilities will include, but may not be limited to the following:

  • Remediation system operation and maintenance.

  • Serve as the task lead for environmental projects working under the supervision of a Project Manager.

  • Coordinate efforts of subcontractors, and field/support staff.

  • Project and task support, data analysis, report writing, assisting with cost estimating, remedial plan preparation, and design support.

  • Gather and correlate basic engineering data using established and well-defined procedures.

  • Provide guidance to entry level engineers.

  • Work with a team to develop proposed approaches to solve new problems encountered using modifications of standard procedures or methods previously developed.

  • Work on routine engineering assignments involving calculations.

  • Perform work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule with little supervision.

  • Qualified candidates must be comfortable with working in the field to assist with remediation system operations, maintenance, and monitoring. 

  • Experience with soil & groundwater remediation systems.

  • Willingness to complete field work, including oversight of contractors.  

  • Strong technical report writing skills and the ability to develop design specifications.

  • Proficiency with basic computer programs, including the Microsoft Office Suite.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • BA/BS in Environmental Engineering or related field.

  • Minimum 4 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and education. 

  • Valid Driver's license.

  • US Citizen or US Permanent Resident.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Environmental Engineering or related field.

  • Five to ten years of experience.

  • P.E. License for California or able to obtain within 6 months of hire date.

  • 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER and current 8-hour annual refresher certification.

  • Positive attitude, willingness to mentor junior staff, and commitment to workplace health and safety.

  • Self-motivated individual who will complete tasks with minimal direct oversight and report back to the Project Manager as needed.

  • Willingness to be vocal and offer suggestions to AECOM Staff, subcontractors, Client Staff, and Regulatory Staff.
