Job Description

The Engineer is responsible for developing designs through various project stages, undertakes coordination and carries out design documentation while working as part of the project team. Performs specific and limited portions of a broader assignment as an experienced engineer. Guides Graduate Engineers, provides design input to the CAD/BIM technicians, and works on detailed or routine engineering assignments involving calculations and tests. 

Technical Excellence:

  • Contributes to the development of technical proposals.
  • Develops design by gathering, correlating and analysing engineering data using computer software and established procedures and standards.
  • When possible, collects and analyses information from discipline and interdisciplinary project BIM models.
  • Fully develops the design content by applying both design and technical knowledge to ensure the production of high-quality outputs by following project timelines.
  • Participates in the interdisciplinary reviews of project deliverables, including BIM spatial reviews (virtual walkthroughs and clash detection.
  • Works on detailed or routine engineering assignments involving calculations, specifications, sketches, diagrams, specific discipline BIM models, drawings, reports and tender documents.
  • Identifies discrepancies in results and proposes an approach to solving new problems encountered.
  • Performs work under the agreed-upon budget and schedule with moderate supervision.
  • Coordinates with other discipline Engineers as applicable for the design process's continuity.
  • Maintains and develops the highest level of technical skills and abilities, ensuring the quality of model production by BIM/CAD teams for accuracy to design instructions.
  • Coordinates with authorities for scheme approvals.            

                                                                 
Client Relationship Management:

  • Begins to participate in client meetings to discuss project requirements, explain/defend work, etc.
  • Participates in the development and preparation of bids and proposals.

Qualifications

 

  • 4+ Years' experience after obtainment of Qualification
  • Bachelor or Master of Science or Engineering from an accredited University. Registered as a Candidate Engineer or Professional Engineer with ECSA
  • Proficient in the use of pavement  AutoCAD, Civil 3D design software, as well as MicroStation, OpenRoads design software packages;
  • Ability to undertake concept and detail design for multi-disciplinary geometric pavement design  projects specifically road geometric design, including highway design and urban interchange design;
  • Draw and update standard road details;
  • Calculate and compile schedule of quantities;
  • Assist with standard setting and be responsible for quality assurance of products i.e. drawings and reports;
  • Compilation of tender documentation including quantities and cost estimates; and
  • Report writing and presentation skills.
