Job Description
AECOM is currently seeking an Assistant Project Manager for our DC office location. The Entry level Assistant Project Manager with a Construction focus. This position will provide staff support on governmental projects during any phase of design and/or construction whether it’s a new building, full modernization, or renovation.
Past experience managing all phases during design phase, construction phase and closeout as part of an integrated Program/CM team to complete small to midsize government programs with budgets ranging from $250K to $5M project life cycle.
Assistant Project Manager (Construction focus) job responsibilities include:
- Understanding of CPM Project Schedule including critical path activities and compare to actual construction work-in-place
- Monitor Shop drawing and RFI process in Procore verify everything is up to date
- Verify project products/equipment/materials have been procured timely and track Procurement Log
- Monitor daily onsite construction work progress to assure products/equipment/materials are both installed properly per specifications including manufacturer recommendations (QA/QC) and conform to approved standards
- Support Project Director and Project Manager with administration of contracts, Change Management process, validating construction work-in-place based on submitted General Contractor Pay Application
- Help verify General Contractor is both performing necessary Quality Assurance/Quality Control of adequate testing & inspections and proper documentation has been uploaded in Procore
- Attend all site-based Stakeholder meetings
- Assist Project Manager and help review punch list submitted by others and verify that items on the punch list have been completed and corrected prior to recommending substantial completion to the Owner
- Support Project Manager in verification of Construction Closeout process
- Upload all necessary project documents weekly
Qualifications
Minimum Requirement
- BS/BA degree in Architecture, Building Science, Engineering, Construction Management, or another related field + 2 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
- Experience with construction and project management software programs
- U.S. Driver’s License and as a condition of employment, must be able to pass AECOM’s Motor Vehicle Records review
- U.S. Citizenship required, due to the nature of the work
Preferred Requirement
- Prefer experience with E-Builder or Procore PMIS
- Previous 1+ years supporting the Construction Industry working as an Assistant Project Management or other similar role
- Excellent knowledge of relevant rules and regulations as well as quality standards and human resources
- Excellent communication skills and interpersonal abilities, including negotiation skills
- Preferred experience collaborating with peers and District of Columbia agencies or Federal government in DC Metro
