Job Description

The primary purpose for this role is to supervise and control site services at the brewery which usually includes risk control, control of internal and external environmental factors, building and grounds maintenance/projects and 5S and liaison with relevant local/Municipal authorities in respect of environmental issues and the provision of services.

The Key Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Management of site maintenance equipment with regards the VPO Safety, Environment and Maintenance pillar requirements
  • Participation in all Site related CAPEX projects
  • Responsible for all waste removal across all site departments
  • Responsible for managing  contractors maintaining offices and site amenities
  • Develops and maintains a landscaping programme for site
  • Responsible for the disposal of by-products and by-product revenue
  • Responsible for the upkeep and administration of change rooms and ablutions
  • Defines methods, such as innovation schemes to optimise the opportunity to minimise wastage
  • Manages and liaises with the security department
  • External : Close liaison with the Department of Environmental Affairs on matters such as water usage, effluent, smoke control, radiation
  • Liaising with the local city council and peri-urban council on matters such as electricity and water supply effluent discharge
  • To supply an investigatory service if and when required to minimise losses
  • Comply with safety, health and environmental procedures and legislation as per VPO standards
  • Maintain site safety and 5S standards
  • Plant, equipment and buildings inspected and maintained through relevant processes
  • Plan and prepare the maintenance jobs and plant relevant building shut-downs
  • Schedules completion - job allocation to artisans / contractors
  • Continuously improve (optimise) brewery civil engineering appearance
  • Allocate and plan building and related maintenance tasks
  • Manage budget allocation
  • Ensuring that where process improvement or waste reduction opportunities have been captured on the gap list, these are properly evaluated, and calls in specialist resources where required to assist in evaluation

Qualifications

  • Tertiary technical qualification, preferably National Diploma in Mechanical/Electrical/Civil Engineering (N6/T3); or B-Tech or Bachelor’s Degree in an engineering field
  • Systems literate
  • FMCG experience would be advantageous
