TITLE:                        Manager of Membership Networks

DEPARTMENT:          External Affairs

REPORTS TO:           Director of Networks & Partnerships

STATUS:                     Exempt

SALARY RANGE:      $70,000 to $77,000

POSITION OVERVIEW

ABFE seeks a Manager of Membership Networks to support the coordination and organizing of ABFE networks and partnerships. The Manager of Membership Networks will manage operations to increase the engagement of a diverse member segment, including foundations, nonprofits, individual donors, and other constituencies. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker and problem solver who can work independently and take the initiative.   The Manager of Membership Networks will work alongside the Director of Network & Partnerships and have a hands-on role in managing and organizing the internal and external systems and processes to help create cohesive, engaged, and mobilized membership networks and partnerships

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Manager of Membership Networks will serve as an organizer, helping identify and foster membership networks, including maintaining network committees, leading network meetings, developing work plans, etc. The Manager of Membership Networks plays an integral role in developing campaign plans to support strategic priorities, including coordinating and collaborating across ABFE departments and regions.

Administrative:

  • Provide day-to-day staffing support for various network constituencies, including network committees.
  • Develop work plans to support network mobilizing and action planning.
  • Collaborate with the Development Department on grant proposals and reports, as necessary.

Network Partner Engagement:

  • Maintain a deep understanding of the philanthropic landscape (national, regional, and local) and can creatively leverage diverse voices and perspectives that help build capacity.
  • Build, organize and support thriving membership networks (working groups, caucuses, communities of practice) with clear annual goals and strong volunteer leadership that operationalizes how ABFE supports the greater sector.
  • Serve as a co-trainer, as needed, to facilitate ABFE's racial justice and equity workshops. as necessary.
  • The Manager of Networks will support the development of curriculums, coordinate, and conduct educational and training opportunities for Network Partners.
  • Work with the Director of Partnerships to provide field campaign tools and strategies for Network Partners.

Network Organizing & Coalition Building:

  • Design webinars and learning series to share innovative solutions with peer networks and ally partners.
  • Contribute to the research, drafting, and implementation of ABFE's constituency networks campaign plan.
  • Identify emerging issues and recommend response plans. Interpret data to identify trends and assess the media effectiveness, mobilization efforts, and deployment of resources.
  • Support and advise staff in the conception and implementation of mobilization goals, tactics, indicators of success, and development of assessment tools.

 Racial Equity and Racial Justice:

  • Serve as a model and mentor to others on integrating equity and inclusion into our work.
  • Develop deep and collaborative partnerships with Black philanthropic leaders and Black-led organizations by conducting network engagement, outreach, and education on anti-black racism, racial equity, and justice.
  • Cultivate and integrate equity and inclusive values among ABFE's constituency networks to help them incorporate the practices into their work.
  • Support ABFE's Programs and Philanthropic Advising Services client coaching and delivery of workshops and other services to the philanthropic sector.

Qualifications

Personal attributes and professional qualifications:

  • Nonprofit and Organizing Experience: At least five years of experience working in the nonprofit sector. Previous experience in philanthropy or organizing is highly desirable.
  • Black People-Centered Power: Understanding of Black people's leadership and centered power and the ability to work with diverse backgrounds of the African Diaspora.
  • Racial Equity and Racial Justice Lens: A commitment to equity-based and inclusive work culture.
  • Relationship Management: Experience building and maintaining relationships and bringing inspirational and collaborative energy.
  • Communication Prowess: Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical audiences, e.g.,  Black Foundation Trustees, CEOs, partners, and other stakeholders.
  • Community Engagement: Knowledge of and experience utilizing community engagement skills to promote collaboration among diverse groups
  • Training skills:  Ability to support and train using educational curriculums.
  • Data management: Knowledge of data management, database administration, reporting, and analysis.
  • Self-Directed: Aptitude for being self-directed to manage multiple projects concurrently and prioritize tasks and work effectively. Also, be accountable to, and be part of a team working toward common goals.
  • Teamwork: Ability to work with a small team of passionate and dedicated individuals.
  • Values: Impeccable integrity, adaptability, and humility, creative and strategic thinker.
  • Highly organized: A thoughtful, focused approach with follow-through and attention.
  • Travel & Events: Ability to travel to conduct workshops, events/conferences, speaking engagements, and in-person staff meetings, as needed.
