Role Overview

Graduate Scheme Engineers at AB Dynamics enjoy the unique opportunity of working on all key AB Dynamics products. Contributing to the development, testing and global distribution of all key ABD products, you will develop a broad range of technical and transferrable skills. Upon completion of the scheme you will have the ideal foundation for a successful engineering career within the automotive testing industry and your specialist field.

This is a permanent role with the first 18 months spent rotating through various disciplines and areas of the business to really secure a broad knowledge of Engineering, within AB Dynamics.

What will you be doing?

  • Perform ‘rotations’ within our different business units Track Testing Robots and Lab Test Measurement Systems located at different offices globally.
  • Perform a 6-month ‘rotation’ within an engineering design team (Electrical/System/Validation/Manufacturing), learning from highly experienced engineers and contributing to cutting-edge projects.
  • Resolve complex design problems, prepare concept designs, and produce complete systems and/or products utilising primary electrical and electronic design (wiring loom and PCB design) and secondary software and mechanical design.
  • Creation of detailed electrical/electronic schematics and PCB layouts following design for manufacturability practices.
  • Work with Suppliers and ABD’s Manufacturing, Test and Commissioning departments to source, manufacture, calibrate, deliver and support our products.

What are we looking for?

  • On track to graduate this summer in an Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronics or Robotics Engineering discipline, although exceptional candidates with relevant experience and/or HND qualifications will be considered.
  • Electrical CAD & Electronic PCB design experience (preferably gained in an R&D equipment context), although exceptional candidates with practical experience and a willingness to learn design will be considered.
  • Ability to take a design requirement from idea to concept, to prototype, to a complete product
  • A passion for design with good analytical skills and the ability to liaise across engineering disciplines. Creativity and a determination to succeed are key attributes for this role.
