Our team at A & A is looking to grow rapidly and is seeking a Tariff Specialist. The ideal candidate will have previous experience working at a Customs Brokerage. This position is responsible for consulting and classifying all commodities as required for imports into Canada, as well as, applying for Rulings and assisting with CADEX rejects and Customs tariff updates.  Tariff knowledge and experience are a must.

Key responsibilities include:

• Perform simple, routine tariff classification
• Review customs documentation and verify for accuracy and proper completion 
• Assist and support staff to ensure timely parts approvals
• Development of tariff classifications as required
• Apply for Rulings when required
• Assist in the management of the Tariff public folder
• Communicate with clients both verbally and in writing 
• Assist CADEX desk with rejected files
• Assist in the updating of our systems related to Tariff, SIMA, Tariff Treatment
• Cross-training within the Consulting/Compliance department
• Other duties as assigned

• Well-versed in the Customs Tariff and associated notes and Explanatory Notes; professional communication both via phone and through email with clients and staff
• Strong team spirit
• Strong organizational skills and flexibility
• Self-motivated and multi-task oriented
• Good knowledge of the Customs brokerage industry
• Professional attitude
• Minimum 2 years experience in tariff classification (intermediate level minimum)
• Minimum 2 years in current position (internal applicants only)
• Minimum Grade 12 graduation
• CCS designation is an asset
• CSCB Tariff Module is an asset
