Job Description

 

Position Overview

The Quality Control Engineering Lead will work under the direction of the Engineering Services Manager. Primary responsibilities of this position include daily supervision of 3-4 technicians, the execution of R&D and Cell Development projects in a lab environment, and management of cell development quality systems.

 

Primary responsibilities

  • Supervise, mentor, and assist quality control technicians on daily activities
  • Drive a safety and quality focused culture
  • Manage quality testing based on assigned priorities and project deadlines
  • Maintain and improve current quality systems
  • Implement and deploy new quality systems
  • Perform root cause analysis on quality outages and implement corrective and preventative measures
  • Assist engineering projects to improve quality, efficiency, and throughput
  • Grow skills within the team through training and hands on practice

Specific Skills/Abilities

The position requires a high level of judgement, individual drive, and flexibility to work in a rapidly changing environment. The successful candidate will be a resourceful problem solver with excellent leadership skills, capable of managing people and technical projects simultaneously. Candidate must be hands on with a strong engineering aptitude and attention to detail.  Experience in quality assurance is required.

 

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering  with 3+ years experience in a related field
  • Quality Assurance experience required
  • Demonstrated project management skills
  • Demonstrated leadership skills
  • Demonstrated experience using process improvement tools (Six Sigma) to reduce defects and improve system and product quality
  • Experience with analyzing and presenting data (SPC, Histograms, Pareto, etc.) required
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) required
  • Experience with VBA coding or other coding languages required
  • Experience with Lithium Ion Battery production preferred
