A123 Systems, LLC is a leading developer and manufacturer of lithium-ion batteries and battery systems for the transportation and commercial markets.

Position Overview

The Cell Assembly Supervisor will work under the direction of the Engineering Services Manager. Primary responsibilities of this position include daily supervision of 4-6 technicians and the execution of R&D and Cell Development projects in a lab environment.

Primary responsibilities

·         Supervise, mentor, and assist cell assembly technicians on daily activities

·         Drive a safety and quality focused culture

·         Manage cell build schedules based on assigned priorities and project deadlines

·         Coordinate with the test team to develop cell activation schedule

·         Perform root cause analysis on quality outages and implement corrective and preventative measures

·         Assist engineering projects to improve quality, efficiency, and throughput

·         Grow skills within the team through training and hands on practice

·         Contribute to the implementation of new equipment including the training of technicians and performance feedback to Engineering

 

Qualifications

Specific Skills/Abilities

The position requires a high level of judgement, individual drive, and flexibility to work in a rapidly changing environment. The successful candidate will be a resourceful problem solver with excellent leadership skills, capable of managing people and technical projects simultaneously. Candidate must be hands on with a strong engineering aptitude and attention to detail.  Experience with electrochemical energy storage systems is preferred, but not required.

 

Education/Experience

·         Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering  with 3+ years experience in a related field or 7+ years experience in a related field with leadership experience

·         Experience with Lithium Ion Battery production preferred

·         Demonstrated project management skills

·         Demonstrated leadership skills

·         Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) is required
