Company Description

Butterfly is building a new type of hand-held Ultrasound device that will revolutionize patient care. In addition to introducing an innovative, custom hardware platform, we’ve developed a user-friendly and intuitive interface with which to manipulate the device.

Job Description

We seek a PCB Design Engineer that loves designing printed circuit boards to meet a variety of interesting and awesome company needs.

You are capable of taking requirements, doing research on components/circuits for requirement implementation, refining requirements if needed, and capturing everything in a schematic.  This engineer will hold design reviews on the schematics, incorporate feedback with DFM/DFT improvements, create BOM's for manufacturing, reduce BOM costs when possible, and work with a layout engineer to make a board come to life.  You should understand best layout techniques for placement of parts, termination placement, low noise placement and routing, high speed routing, and how to create a great stackup based on complexity.

Our manufacturing team will take care of building the board, but you will make sure it works by testing it out using a multimeter, oscilloscope or even a logic analyzer.  If you have no problem soldering test/rework wires, replacing 0402 parts and understand high speed measurement techniques we will love you.

You will have full ownership of the boards created while interfacing with world-class engineering teams at Butterfly to develop products, create test vehicles, and design super sweet advanced prototypes.  The work is fast-paced, educational, and will profoundly change the world.

Qualifications

*BSEE with at least 10 years designing PCBs (We love PCB design gods)

*Experience with a schematic capture tool and a layout tool.  Having done your own layout is a plus.

*Experience with test equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, function generators, and logic analyzers.

*Ability to navigate schematics and methodically root cause failures.  (Tell us a great debug story!)

*Must be able to use a soldering iron - you think it's fun to make mods to test out your ideas, also... reworks happen.

*Basic computer skills are required, particularly with Microsoft Word, Excel, Acrobat Reader, Allegro Viewer.  Google Docs and Sheets equivalent ok.
