Job Description

We are seeking a high-impact Senior Process Engineer to take complete process ownership across all plastic injection-molded parts at its facilities. This role works closely with Operations Supervisors, Molding Technicians, Maintenance, the Tool Room, and Automation Engineers to establish stable, repeatable processes, minimize waste, and drive continuous operational improvement as the company scales.

 

KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS (KPIS) The employee will be evaluated directly on the following success metrics:

  • Scrap Rate: Reduce scrap percentage across all active parts.
  • Cycle Time Adherence: Ensure active production operates at or below established standard cycle times.
  • Cycle Time Reduction: Identify and execute cycle-time optimizations on existing tooling.
  • Labor Efficiency: Reduce direct labor hours required per unit through process improvements and automation integration.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Scientific Molding and New Part Qualification:

  • • Lead tool trials and qualify new molds and materials using rigorous Scientific Molding principles, including viscosity curves, gate-seal studies, and pressure-drop analyses.
  • • Establish robust, repeatable process windows for new tooling and document baseline parameters.
  • • Transition newly qualified tools into full production with completed Process Sheets and SOPs.

Process Optimization and Stability:

  • • Methodically evaluate existing processes to identify root causes of process variation, high scrap, or extended cycle times.
  • • Systematically re-engineer and optimize parameters to reduce cycle times and scrap while preserving part quality and structural integrity.
  • • Drive process standardization across all shifts to maximize process capability.

Process Ownership, Training, and Discipline:

  • • Own and maintain official Process Sheets for all parts running within the facilities.
  • • Partner with Production Supervisors and Molding Technicians to train, mentor, and align teams on parameter standards
  • and proper troubleshooting procedures.
  • • Establish and enforce a Process Change Management System; oversee root-cause investigations for parameter deviations and update official documentation only when approved.

Automation and Direct Labor Reduction:

  • • Collaborate with the internal Engineering team to identify, design, and integrate robotics, vision inspection, automated secondary operations, and other automation systems into existing cells.

Maintenance and Tooling Collaboration:

  • • Partner with the Tool Room to address mold wear, venting, thermal-management, or mechanical issues that introduce process variation.
  • • Partner with Maintenance to troubleshoot press hydraulic, electric, auxiliary, and process-equipment anomalies affecting consistency.
  • • Lead joint Root Cause and Corrective Action investigations for recurring tooling or press issues.

 

JOB INFORMATION

  • Number of Job positions available: 1
  • Starting Salary: $80,000/year + discretionary bonus.
  • Workweek: “Daytime hours” Monday-Friday (we are flexible on start/ end times, but these will be salaried roles that are not tied strictly to our shift schedules)
  • Criminal Background Check: Yes, applicants must be able to pass a Mexican and/or US CBC before departure from place of employment, arranged by the recruitment company.
  • Drug Test? No pre-employment DT required.
  • English Level: Bilingual in English and Spanish (C1). English B2 or better (they will need to be communicating very consistently with our English-speaking Engineering teams)
  • Drivers License: Mexican valid drivers license and process US license in a timely manner to be in compliance with the US regulations.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Experience: Seven or more years of hands-on process engineering experience in high-volume plastic injection molding.
  • Certification/Methodology: RJG Master Molder I or II, or formal Scientific Molding or Decoupled Molding certification, is strongly preferred.
  • Technical Maestry:

- Deep expertise in resin behavior, mold-design principles, hot-runner systems, and auxiliary equipment such as

dryers, chillers, and thermolators.

- Demonstrated success applying Six Sigma and Lean tools to reduce scrap and cycle times.

  • Cross-Functional Leadership: Proven ability to coach, train, and build trust with floor Technicians and Operators while maintaining strict standard-work discipline.
