Job Description
Overview of Position:
The Site Superintendent will have the responsibility of day-to-day management and health and safety of the project team as well being accountable for the quality and timely delivery of installations. As a hands-on member of the team, this position will work closely with the Operations Manager, work directly with all construction related tools and will actively participate in the construction and completion of projects while assisting to manage the team.
Responsibilities:
These duties include, but are not limited to:
● Meeting with customers to discuss design options
● Familiarity with construction drawings
● Providing quotations as required
● Ordering materials from suppliers
● Determining the overall schedule on site
● General project management related activities
● Holding/attending team meetings
● Quality control and time management
● General management of team members
● Working with an apprentice and others to erect buildings, install airtight weather barrier, door and windows, wood siding, steel siding and roofing, interior wood paneling, window jambs, trim and baseboards, and flooring
● Scheduling subcontractors including electrical and other trades
● Operating hand and powered construction related tools
● Health and safety - ensuring all rules/regulations are adhered to by staff and contract workers and accident reports are completed as necessary
● Uploading expenses to Quickbooks
● Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Experience/Qualifications/Education:
● Diploma in Construction related field or demonstrated experience
● Licenced carpenter with a minimum 3-5 years working experience
● Demonstrable supervisory skills and customer service abilities (communication)
● Experience with metal framing, door/window installation, wood and steel siding, tile work and other skills will be strongly preferred
● Team player who enjoys working with customers and other trades, meeting challenges head on, creatively solving problems, and taking pride in their work
● Strong communication and computer skills is a must
● Familiarity with design software is preferred but not required
● Must be able to lift 75lbs as a minimum on a regular basis
● Keen ability and desire to learn and grow
Working Conditions:
● Outdoors, bending, lifting...
● Access to personal vehicle (will be reimbursed for mileage)
● Travel within Ontario, mainly centered around Guelph and surrounding areas
Compensation will be competitive and hired employee may be eligible for profit sharing pending successful completion of probationary period.
