Job Description

  • Primarily responsible for the definition, creation, and maintenance of the enterprise data infrastructure within the new computing environments.
  • Analyzes results of tests and implements physical database design supporting various business applications (including base definition, structure, documentation, long-range requirements, and operational guidelines.)
  • Ensure data recovery, maintenance, data integrity, and space requirements for physical databases are met through formulations and monitoring of policies, procedures, and standards relating to database management.
  • Provide a high degree of coordination between user, technical, application, and corporate entities to ensure effective data management.
  • Leads the design of data structures within an environment (all layers) and reverse engineering source system structures for sourcing/landing.
  • Effectively facilitates the creation/migration of data objects in development environments and driving metadata capture through data modeling application.
  • Ensure that functions within capacity management (including system tuning, server consolidation, capacity planning) and performance management correspond with business requirements.
  • Provide expert level technical support and troubleshooting for database infrastructure.
  • Completes all responsibilities as outlined on annual Performance Plan.
  • Completes all special projects and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Design tests, implement, maintain and control the organization’s physical and relational databases.
  • Consult with systems analysts and designers on procedures related to new or existing files. 
  • Establish and maintain databases for user testing purposes and production.
  • Have extensive in-depth knowledge of design, administration, programming, and support of RDBMSs/MDDBMSs in one or more computing environments.
  • Have an Expertise in at least one database management system while having an understanding of other database management systems.
  • Handle high-pressure situations
  • Work effectively with end-users to develop elegant solutions to diverse and complex business and technical problems.
  • Be proficient in the use of DataBase Monitoring and Performance Tuning Tools
  • Facilitate effectively and work collaboratively on such activities as performance problems, hardware/software upgrades, application program design reviews, new application setup and implementation, application workload growth prediction, measurement and so on.
