The Senior Construction Manager is responsible for the planning, development, and executional oversight of workflows for all Tile Shop new store construction and remodel projects, as well as full managerial oversite for facilities and maintenace for Retail Stores, Distribution Centers, and Corporate Office's. Job Description

CONSTRUCTION RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Review construction plans, phasing, and schedules, while monitoring budgets and progress 

  • Establish and track project budgets, construction schedules, and all construction costs 

  • Assist in creating and managing feasibility analysis, permitting, design, and construction of new stores and remodel projects 

  • Expedite development timelines by interacting with and providing guidance to outside Architects, Engineers, General Contractors, and Governmental Agencies 

  • Understand, review, sign-off/approve all construction plans, change orders, reports, survey plans, site investigation reports, and utility plans 

  • Responsible for the successful completion of: 

  • Communication with the internal support team, subcontractors, and vendors 

  • Developing and maintaining relationships with Tile Shop’s New Store/Remodel Committee and construction partners during all phases of construction 

  • Organization and Management of Projects, review and analyze project drawings and documents, manage costs and profitability, coordinate, and manage multiple tasks to ensure successful completion of new construction/ remodel projects in a team-based environment 

  • Visit and monitor all construction sites nationally 

  • Communicate frequently with contractors, team members, vendors, and Stakeholders on the development of plans, their progress, and timelines.  

  • Monitors progress and quality of construction by regularly scheduled site visits providing functional expertise and counsel to general contractors 

  • Leads and/or participate in daily/weekly new store development calls with various team members, including but not limited to: Real Estate, Operations, Construction, Store Planning, Merchandising, and Signing 

  • Provide insight and direction to architects, engineers, and General Contractors as needed to address questions or comments that arise in the field concerning new projects 

  • Coordinate subcontractors and the construction team to meet contractual conditions of performance. 

  • Negotiate agreement terms, manage construction contract drafts, bid on projects, and obtain permits to analyze and mitigate risks 

  • Communicate with departments as needed to ensure delivery of product and material are timely and accurate 

  • Review projects daily to ensure quality construction standards exist and estimates remain within budget 

  • Supervise construction projects to ensure they are completed on time and per plan. 

  • Supervise the installation of all tile work to ensure installations are per plan, and quality standards are maintained 

  • Work under deadlines in a fast-paced environment to plan and coordinate all aspects of the building process  

  • Obtain occupancy permit working with city and government department on compliance requirements 

  • Other duties as assigned 

 

FACILITIES RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Monitors and evaluates the current planned maintenance program and schedules for current and future years for all Tile Shop’s Retail, Distribution Centers (DCs), and Corporate Locations 

  • Consistently assess the current condition of electrical, air conditioning, HVAC, plumbing, and other essential facilities and equipment 

  • Analyzes project budget to determine correct vendor resources and implementation schedule 

  • Works closely with Store/Distribution Leadership team to support escalation of issues on day-to-day maintenance items 

  • Supports Real Estate Property Management/Accounting in the activities surrounding CAM responsibilities along with ensuring CAM operational budgeted items are being completed 

  • Develop and manage Facility Condition Assessment within appropriate timing and to gauge potential facilities assets repair/replace project impacts to current and future functional plan 

  • Owns Capex and Facilities budget for project completion in each location which includes the creation and oversight of budget relative projects to completion 

  • Ensures parameters of safety are adhered to in each Tile Shop Retail location, corporate office and DC Site which include fire, flood, and other hazards 

  • Aligns with Store Operations Leadership, Marketing, and Design on maintenance of the store’s appearance within brand, safety, and customer parameters 

  •  Coordinate/communicate with Executive Leadership to ensure company objectives are being met  

  • Other duties as assigned 

 

Qualifications

Required Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in construction management or civil engineering preferred 

  • Excellent resource, planning, and time management skills 

  • Superior management and delegation capabilities 

  • High level of financial responsibilities 

  • Strong leadership and project management skills 

  • The ability to work with confidential information is essential 

  • 8 years of relevant work experience 

  • Multi-Unit Retail experience a plus 

  • Real Estate, Architecture, Engineering experience preferred
