Job Description

Who You Are.
As our Senior Electrical Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing and testing new products. The work includes design, modification and evaluation of electronic apparatus, components or circuitry for use in electrical control systems and devices. Conduct experimental tests and analyze equipment to establish performance characteristics.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:
• Design, develop and test new products.
• Lead product development teams.
• Resolve daily product development issues by evaluation and re-engineering.
• Define project assignments, engineer, manage product readiness, and provide engineering support to startup of manufacturing processes.
• Responsible for the effective use of personnel, material and equipment.
• Meet schedule and qualify requirements.
• Design and integrate controls for robotics and machine tool applications, including PC-based, PLC-based and CNC-based systems.
• Generate electrical drawing packages (schematic + assembly) using EPLAN and/or Solidworks Electrical ECAD design software.
• Develop and test machine (PLC) logic, define machine parameters and tune servo systems.
• Document sequence of operations for machines.
• Design and document complete PC and PLC-based control systems for multi-axis (2-5+) motion systems, including real-time networked I/O sub-systems, power distribution sub-systems and tuning of coordinated axes servo systems.
• Develop and maintain product development processes.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of National Electric Code (including NFPA 79) and European CE directives and standards to industrial machinery.
• Experience in design of systems using EtherCAT real-time industrial control Ethernet.
• Familiarity with “C”, “C++” and/or Visual Basic programming languages.
• High level of analytical ability where problems are complex.
• Exceptional oral and written, presentation and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently on projects with minimal supervision and function well in a team environment.
• Highly organized with the ability to breakdown high-level engineering project definition into task-level assignments.
• High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others, solicit input from customers, motivate employees and elicit work output.
• Ability to take initiative; highly self-motivated.
• Demonstrated ability for innovative/creative thinking.
• Familiarity with automation, product design, value engineering.
• Ability to lead lower level engineering and other technical personnel.
• Ability to travel on short notice, to lend technical support.
• Previous project management experience highly desired.
• Advanced level experience with PC using Windows, Word, Excel, Access, etc.

Education and/or training
• BSEE and minimum of seven (7) years’ experience. OR
• MSEE and minimum of five (5) years’ experience OR
• Ph.D. EE and minimum of three (3) years’ experience.
