IBI Group’s Toronto office is searching for a Practice Lead for our Civil Engineering team. Are you looking for a challenging role where you will have the opportunity to build upon a successful business? The responsibilities of the Practice Lead will involve solving complex problems, technical oversight of the discipline’s output, coaching and mentoring staff, monitoring technical, quality and financial performance, business development, marketing initiatives and financial accountability for the 6 member Engineering Team. The Practice Lead will combine leadership responsibilities with Project Management duties that will align with their own particular professional skill.

This dynamic role will give you the opportunity to utilize your strong technical, business development, financial and interpersonal skills while leading and coordinating projects and interfacing with clients. Not only will you be implementing innovative and effective concepts and designs, but you will also be working with world class professionals who specialize in delivering quality services to major international clients. This individual will be able to draw on the knowledge base from our 600 employee strong multi-disciplinary practice in Toronto to expand our reach.

Most of the things you’ll work on:

  • Technical oversight responsibilities for the Civil Engineering Group
  • Quality control leadership driving Continuous Improvement
  • Develop, implement and execute innovative and effective solutions for civil and land development projects
  • Effective management of projects and discipline resources
  • Foster collaboration between various groups and offices
  • Business Development and Marketing initiatives
  • Mentor, coach and lead team members

Qualifications

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related engineering discipline
  • Licensed Professional Engineer in Ontario or the proven ability to achieve this if from out of Province.
  • 15 years post-Professional Registration experience in the planning and design of civil infrastructure projects
  • Project Management experience in municipal engineering and urban development projects within the GTA area.
  • Strong influencing skills and the ability to develop effective and trustworthy relationships both with clients and within the organization with a particular emphasis on the City of Toronto
  • Committed to developing a collaborative environment
  • Excellent problem solving and decision-making skills;
  • Superior verbal and written English communication skills; as well as interpersonal skills
  • Experience in implementing strategic, analytical and practical solutions based on clients needs
  • Action oriented individual who is able to work in a fast paced, change oriented and growing organization
  • Proactive, independent, combined with the ability to prioritize tasks and work effectively within a team and for a large group

This office is steps away from St. Clair station and is easily accessible by bike, TTC and car. Occupying 5 floors, with over 650 employees, it is the largest office at IBI Group. The floors are open concept and represent our collaborative approach to projects.
