Job Description

Griffith University’s Health Group is seeking a highly motivated Research Development Officer to work under the direction of the Dean (Research). The Research Development Officer will be responsible for identifying, evaluating, developing, structuring, and managing strategic external research funding opportunities for the Health Group.

Key responsibilities for this role will include:

  • Advise and provide feedback to researchers on grant applications, fostering growth, diversity, and sustainability of externally funded projects, including grants, fellowships, industry linkages, and multi-partner initiatives.
  • Offer strategic planning advice on national and international grant submissions, helping to raise the Health Group’s research capabilities through major research collaborations.
  • Collaborate with the Deputy Heads of School (Research) and Group Research Centre Leadership to support high-priority research initiatives.
  • Assist academic staff throughout the grant application lifecycle by identifying funding sources, reviewing applications for competitiveness and compliance, and helping with budget planning for research projects.
  • Liaise with Griffith University’s Office for Research and Griffith Enterprise to ensure cohesive grant development support.

About you
The occupant will hold relevant tertiary qualifications and demonstrated experience in research or grant development, preferably in a Health-related area.

As the successful candidate, your experience in similar positions will enable you to provide in-depth assistance to academic staff throughout the grant application life-cycle. Your demonstrated understanding of international and national research policies, combined with well-developed communication skills, will contribute to the generation of high-quality and competitive research grant applications. Your high level of organisational skills will guarantee that you are able to meet tight deadlines.

What we can offer
This is a fixed term (until 8th August 2025), full time position and will be primarily based at the Griffith University Gold Coast campus.

As Griffith is a multi-campus University you may be required to work across other campus locations. Griffith University’s campuses are located on the lands of the Yugarabul, Yuggera, Jagera, Turrbal, Yugambeh and Kombumerri peoples.

Salary Range
The full time equivalent base salary will be HEW Level 8 range $108,764 - $122,356 per annum + 17% superannuation. The total FTE package will be in the range $127,254 - $143,157 per annum.
